In good hands with Allstate?

In good hands with my dick, more like it.

I ranted before about a situation that arose with my father after getting rear-ended.

We got the car checked and we were set to have the car repaired at our auto body of choice. However, Allstate suddenly wanted to send two agents over our house just to "make sure of the damage". My family and I thought it was a semi-dick move, like they were paranoid that the crash wasn't really that bad and wanted to make sure this was justified.

They pointed out that the spare tire underneath wasn't there anymore. We never needed to use it, obviously, and just never thought about where it was kept. Logic dictates that it must have dislodged and rolled away after the crash (remember, it was a huge rear-end accident).

So blah blah blah, we sent the car to be fixed, and it was supposed to be ready this past Tuesday.

The auto body called us saying it was delayed until next week. Allstate wasn't cooperating with them because now they're accusing us of hiding the stupid effing spare tire.

This is the first time we've ever needed to use Allstate and after all these years of paying them (our first accident, which was reported to be the other person's fault because of rear-ending us) they give us crap. I mean, are all insurance companies like this? Who here has Allstate? Have you had a negative experience like this? My mother was thoroughly pissed off and wants to switch to another company. My friend suggested Geico.

I'm too lazy to log out of my alt account, so here you go.

My dad's family has been with State Farm for generations. A few years back a lady came out of my blind spot and sideswiped me when I was at a full stop. The cop writing the report attempted to BREAK PHYSICS and declare me at fault (which we challenged; I think the final ruling was both at fault). Lady then tries to file for repairs on her cosmetically-damaged vehicle. Our agent took one look at the report and was like NOPE THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE and denied her claim.

Long story short, the people at State Farm are smart in your favor so go to them.

My mom's with Geico; they're fairly inexpensive and they have some nice features (once I need to get my own car insurance it's based off her rates).

So, yeah. Either of those two.

Good luck!

Sounds like you've got some kind of a witch as an insurance rep. You'll have to go higher up and notify them of the witch's presence among their ranks so it can be dealt with properly. If you botch these things out and leave some of the root, they'll just grow right back.

Well, Allstate managed through their grumpy mcgrump moment and we should have the car tomorrow. Should. Key word.

I actually used to know a girl in college who worked for State Farm. There are two things preventing me from contacting her and one is simply that she might not work there any more and the other is because we had an awkward fling. I still have her lipstick lying around. Haha. Ha. . .

I can't imagine going to her for help.

So just as an update, I finally got the car back this past Friday. Took them long enough. The auto body was really chill about it. Allstate actually still hasn't paid everything to the auto body but the auto body was like "Here just take the car, they're being stupid."
