If Final Fantasy VIII were ever tog et a remake

It might happen, if they finally break the hurdle that is Final Fantasy VII I could see them finally remaking FFVIII and beyond as well (Square is just sitting on VII because they know whenever they make it, it will be a cash cow, but once that's out the flood gates should be open for future remakes).

Anyway, what I think would be altered or different? Personally I would think more character growth would be nice, the game had to be heavily edited because of memory space at the time it originally released, and in the end the game felt short and the supporting characters felt passed over as far as development goes.

Also, would be nice if there was more game after Ultimecia, in the end you get to draw Apocalypse all for only one battle and then the game is over and you ever get to use it again. Don't get me wrong, the game is final boss fight is brilliant, but I would like an end dungeon. Would be easy to put in too, the whole game is about time distortion, therefore even after they defeat Ultimecia they could argue that they could go back and defeat her again as the timeline is still unstable after all the tampering its had to be put through.

As for final dungeon, that I think is obvious, the Demon Moon, the thing is covered with the supposedly strongest demons and monsters, and those who were not brought down by the Lunar Cry would probabaly be the greatest challenge in the game, and would make for quite a great final dungeon, and also giving the game a little of a reminiscent feeling to Final Fantasy IV.

As for bosses who could pose a challenge over the Ultima Weapon and Ultimecia I have an idea. First and lesser Super Boss would be ChronoBahamut. Bahamut, being the supposed king of the guardian forces far far, far into the future will one day rise to such a fantastic power that he will transcend time itself, becoming lord of the time line beyond even Ultimecia's power. However his ascension will not have destroyed time like Ultimecia's plan would have. This fight would go one of two ways to start, if the team had not gotten Bahamit prior to meeting ChronoBahamut he will meet the party in anger, declaring them abomination of time itself, in that their plan to risk all of time and space to stop Ultimecia was foolhardy and he will attack them blot them out of existence. If, however, Bahamut has gotten by the team, ChronoBahamut will start the same way until Bahamut intervenes. It is then ChronoBahamut will remember the threat Ultimecia faced to the world, having forgotten in his immortal dementia, he will challenge the party to fight, and if the part beats him this time, they will gain the right to obtain ChronoBahamut as a Guardian Force, easily the strongest in the game.

Regardless of whether the party obtains ChronoBahamut or not, before he departs he will tell the party that although they are powerful, Ultimecia has created a time loop, and everytime she is defeated she will simply return to Edea and start the cycle again. He also explains that no passage of time when repeated happens exactly the same way, even the smallest alteration could cause the outcome to change and because of this, with an infinite amount of chances, Ultimecia will eventually win and compress time.

The party will deny this could happen, but then he reveals the reason he knows this is one time Ultimecia did win, and succeeded in compressing all of time and becoming a goddess as she wished. Having scended above time, ChronoBahamut existed in every second of time since its birth til its end so he was unaffected, however with only the goddess and himself as the only beings left to exist, Ultimecia eventually went mad. Yes she was omnipotent, however, she ruled over a universe where all existence was denied by her hand, and as a result ruled over nothing for all eternity, compressed into a single moment. Finally she begged ChronoBahamut to seal her, to seal her power over time compression and undo all that she's done, and complying, removed Ultimecia into a pocket universe of her own, thus releasing time into where the party is now, the infinite loop continued. However, since she could only be sealed she would always be a threat, and since the party was able to best him, he will allow them the greatest task in defeating the being that would have been created if they had failed to stop Ultimecia's plan to compress time, Neo Ultimecia.

Neo Ultimecia will be in her grand form, a goddess of all time compressed into a single moment within her little pocket dimension, however as ChronoBahamut said she is quite mad, and has gone more insane having been sealed away. She will greet the party as nothing more than an illusion of time and her madness, simply reliving the moment where she succeeded and become the goddess of nothing. However, this won't stop her from blaming the party for what she is and attacking her, setting them up for the strongest and most dangerous Super Boss of the time, Goddess of Nothing, Neo Ultimecia.

What do you think? Most of the beginning feels pretty obvious but I just thought the end part with the Superbosses would be an interested edition.

They don't change too much, they just improve on it, like how they made the new versions of I-VI.

But remember everyone complained about how they changed it, now it sucked?

"Frog should speak Ye Olde Butchered Englishe!! Even though nobody else speaks like that, BUT HE DID ORIGINALLY!"
"Kefka's been ruined, they removed all his one-liners even though they added two more."
"They were too faithful to the old script!!!"
"THEY CHANGED IT TOO MUCH!"
"The script for Star Ocean 2 sucks, I liked the Playstation version with the rushjob voice acting and engrish up the butt better!"

They would add some new good stuff and some new bad stuff and take out some old good and bad stuff. Seifer got all the good lines in this game though. -CSM
