I don't smoke it, but I don't think it should be illegal. I mean, drinking is far more hazardous, not only to the person who consumes it but also to those around him. Most importantly, there is no plausible reason why it should be illegal; there are many reasons why it should be legal.
As things are right now, a dealer will sell the stuff to anyone, including 10-year-olds. And besides, God knows what other substances they've stuck in there. Would you rather have a legally licensed pharmacy that'll only sell it to 18-year-olds and will sell the real stuff, or would you rather have some dealer who'll come round and break your kneecaps if you fail to pay him?
Although it is true that marijuana leaves you braindead and completely apathetic. A downside of it, I have to say. I don't smoke it, really, but I still think it's ridiculous when it could be used for medicinal purposes. Obviously, no matter how many people will tell you otherwise, the bulk of the people who support legalization only want it for recreation, not for medicine. But even so, if it is legalized then it would inevitably be used for medicinal purposes. Hey, morphine's far more addictive and damaging than marijuana, so why not?
