Man, this forum is hard to keep alive. Just so that it doesn't remain completely inactive, lets try a new RPG to keep things going hopefully.

Anyway, Aether will probably play a lot like some of my older RPGs; for anyone who isn't a regular to the forum but is somehow still here, that means that you're generally able to explore the worlds and do whatever you want in them. I suck at generating plots, so don't expect anything like that forced upon you. But there are quests and missions, as well as a bunch of dungeons if you don't feel like just wandering around.

Name: ...
Age: ...
Gender: ...
Race: See below.
Description: Appearance and Biography of character. Optional mostly.
Stats: See Below.
Abilities: Make 3 custom abilities. I'd suggest you try and make some creative ones, as more generic things such as simple healing can be learned easily by teachers or items.

Stats:
LP - Life Points. You have 10. When they hit 0, you're gone for good. They drop when you do something that would technically kill you, like losing in a battle, or dying because of something like a large fall.
EP - Energy Points. You have 100. It drops constantly, but mostly with travel. If it hits 0, you begin to lose HP in its place. Can be restored by items mostly, or by some sleep.

You have 100 points to fill the following
HP - Health Points. When they drop to 0 you can't battle anymore. You'll also lose 1LP because of it.
MP - Mana Points. Needed to use magical spells or items.

You have 90 points to fill the following
Str - Main source of damage with a physical attack. With more strength, heavier equipment can be used.
Con - Reduces damage taken from physical attacks. Allows better armor to be equipped.
Int - Increases effectiveness of all spell types and is the main factor in causing damage with spells.
Spr - Increases the effectiveness of defensive spells. Also reduces damage taken from magical attacks.
Agl - Determines your ability to evade attacks, as well as when, and how many times you can act during battle.
Dex - Determines how accurate you are primarily. It also increases damage done with some skills.

- - Races - -

Human - An intelligent race that, while somewhat frail, has incredible potential for growth. Humans are somewhat weak, yet they gain experience and learn skills faster than other races. Humans are able to learn about certain things by focusing on it.

Labohan - A beast like race within most of the worlds, though primarily living on Sotyris. They are fairly strong, and they attack accurately during battle. Labohans gain Dexterity faster than other races. Labohans are well suited for navigating forest areas, and have intincts that protect them from danger.

Drake - A race that appears to have evolved from dragons. They live primarily on the mountainous regions of the worlds, and are able to quickly get across them through their powerful jumping abilities. It is thought that Drakes originally came from Ossimur, as they seem to have traits suited for navigating the region. Drakes gain Strength faster than other races.

Aerelos - A bird like race with the abilty of flight. They live in Ossimur primarily, yet many live in the other worlds as well. They are an aggressive race, and love battling. The Aerelos and Drakes are long time enemies, and the Aerelos have been pursuing them for ages. Aerelos gain Agility faster than other races.

Aykrinn - An aquatic race inhabitting Aluris primarily, they are able to breathe and swim in water with ease, however are somewhat dependant upon it, requiring water far more than most of the other races in the world. They gain Resistance faster than other races.

Borelan - A race intune with nature, sharing a bond with plant life on the planet. They appear for the most part human, however their skin is generally paler and some have plants growing along their bodies. Borelan gain intelligence faster than other races. They slowly restore energy and MP over time.

Sinut - A race that had evolved from insects, looking similiar to beetles found across the world. They have impressive defenses due to their natural layer of armor, and are fairly strong. They gain Constitution faster than other races. Sinut are known for their ability to endure dangerous conditions and attacks.

Feruos - A race that is similiar to the Drakes, with the main differences being in their size and abilities. The Feruos mainly live in Ossimur; they are well suited for living in the dark areas beneath the ground. The Feruous gain Health faster than other races, and are able to attach an extra piece of equipment even if they have equipment of the same type on.

Citos - A nomadic race that primarily wanders across Etelluun, although they do live on the other planets. The Citos consider themselves descendants of the Goddess Citura. They gain Mana faster than other races. They are able to decipher ancient languages.

- - WORLD - -

There are five planets within Aether, each of them have their own special areas. The ones listed are mostly either towns or the equivilant of a dungeon of some sort.

Gaios - A large planet, and the most technologically developed out of all of them. Is made up mostly of water, yet inhabitted primarily by humans.
- Major continents in Gaios -
1) Felaros - A large nation to the northwest. The nation has been at peace for many years, after a large war between small countries was ended with Alemia appearing as the dominant kingdom.
- Alemia - The largest city in Felaros, and also the capital.
- Celiss - A large city in the northeastern part of Felaros. Famous for its magicians and scholars.
- Trellorat Forest - A forest to the east, covers a large section of the continent
- Remai Peak - A large mountain range to the north. Has a portal linked to Ossimur within it.
2) Armiel - A militant nation to the northeast. Controls all of the surrounding islands and land; which it attained after a war, where it eventually defeated the countries of Gradd and Nomit.
- Armas - The capital of the Armiel. A large industrial city.
- Giral - A large city, formerly the capital of Gradd. Many of the people of the city have upheld old traditions, and thus they have a large library of magical spells, and the citizens train in magic.
- Karuis - A large city, formerly the captial of Nomit. A large port town.
- Ateirr Range - A large mountain range to the east of Armas.
3) Caelis - A large nation to the southeast. Caelis has a large amount of natural materials, which it uses to create items as its main source of income. Roughly half of Caelis is covered by the Caelin Mountains.
- Tros - The capital city of Caelis, located to the north.
- Caelin Mountains - A large mountain range covering half the continent. Ore and minerals mined here are the main source of wealth for Caelis.
- Itlos - A large port city at the southern region of the continent.
- Koba - A large island off the coast of Caelis.
4) Sunira Latos - A large nation consisting of many large islands primarily. The 5 main islands are Tolas, Goma, Alithe, Nise, and Onis.
- Tolas - The largest island out of all the Suniras Islands. The Capital City of all of Sunira Latos. Has a large volcano to the east of the island, with a portal to Etelluun
- Goma - A large island to the northwest. Is one of the main centers of trade in Sunira, as its location is close to Felaros and Armiel.
- Alithe - An island to the east of Tolas. Most of what could be considered Sunira's army and navy is held here.
- Onis - The last of the large islands of Sunira. Onis is the furthest south, and least developed one of them.
- Nise - An island to the southwest of Tolas. Has some ruins from ancient times on the island, though it is lacking

Etelluun - A small planet that is mostly land. This world is primarily one large continent, with a few islands across it as well. Has a rather varied climate, but the land is fairly primitive and most towns are fairly small.
1) Atlir - A large town to the north by a mountainous region. Has many skilled blacksmiths there.
2) Taenil - A large port town to the south.
3) Tollos Falls - A gigantic waterfall besides a large lake. Has a portal to Aluris within it.
4) Lamas - A town at the edge of the Dasiru Forest. Was originally made by mages, so it holds a large library of magical spells and artifacts.
5) Dasiru Forest - A large forest covering the northeastern part of the continent. The southern region of it holds a large swamp.
6) Kadoa - A large island to the southeast of the main island; attached to it by a large bridge. Has a dormant volcano on it, which holds a portal to Gaios.
7) Iliss - A large island to the southwest of Kadoa. Is mostly unexplored still.

Ossimur - A large planet covered in desert and mountains with very little greenery and water. Beneath the sands are many large tunnels and caverns. Most of the people on it live in areas sheltered by rock formations or beneath the ground in the caverns to get away from the constantly blowing sands.
1) Torath - The largest settlement on all of Ossimur. Torath is shielded by several large walls of rock.
2) Iamer Canyon - A large canyon far to the east of Torath. Iamer is a large settlement, controlled primarily by a tribe of Aerelos. There is a warp to Gaios there, but they do not let others use it at their will.
3) Osa - A settlement to the south of Torath, mostly buried underground except for a small part which leads to the surface. Has a large reserve of water buried within it, and that has led it to become a large town.
4) Desert Shrine - A shrine to the north of Torath, shielded by a natural rock formation. It has various caverns beneath it, and also has a portal leading to Sotryris within.
5) Eternal Sands - A desert covering almost all of Ossimur. It is dangerous to travel across; however some think that there may be something great hidden within it

Aluris - A large planet made up of water, with several islands and small continents across it. The northern regions of the planet are frozen at almost all times due to an irregular axis and orbit.
1) Laris - One of the larger islands of Aluris, though one of the least populated due to its location and climate. Its by the Northern Plains, and roughly half of the island is constantly covered in snow. Laris has only a moderate sized town on it.
2) Northern Plains - A large sheet of ice and snow covering almost a third of Aluris.
3) Ulaiis - An island the size of Laris located to the Southwest.
- Krous - A large port town on the eastern side of Ulaiis.

5) Reinem Isles - Several small islands and some slightly larger ones located south of Ulaiis and Lenost. It is rumored that they are linked by various underground caverns.

Sotyris - A planet covered mostly by ocean, grasslands, and forests. Made up of 3 large continents and several smaller islands. Much of the planet is unexplored still however.
1) Tarieth - The largest continent of Sotyris. Covers a large portion of Sotryris to the north. To the west it is plains and grasslands mostly, with forests to the east.

Lastly, some notes on the RPG.

- TRAVEL : Travel through the RPG I'm making kind of simplified. Pick an area and method of travel to it. If you end up in a fight, you'll have to battle, but if not you'll be there in as short a time as possible... for a text based RPG. Anyway, while travelling, you'll lose energy... and health too if your energy runs out. As long as you have some sort of items that restore energy I'll use up those instead of draining your health though.

- BATTLE : Pretty simple. You get one move per turn. Battle Order is determined by everyones Agility. Physical damage is Strength minus the opponents Constitution. Magical Damage is Intelligence minus the opponents Spirit. And Accuracy is Dexterity minus the opponents Agility.

- ABILTIES : Magic or Skills. Magic uses up MP to cast it, but it is generally more powerful and varied than Skills. Skills are specialized physical attacks, manuevers, or stances for the most part. You start off with any 3 abilities you want to make, and will learn some more later as you level up. You can also learn abilities through teachers at certain guilds, or by some items

- - -
Right then, thats all of it for now. I'll set up a topic for everyone who joins the RPG. Unless you put where you're from in your description or something I'll probably start you off in a random town or something.

Name: Adell
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Description: Adell is fit and slightly above average height. He is fairly tanned as he spends most of his time travelling from place to place, and he wears whatever is best for the terrain. He fights with sword and bow. He wears a leather bracer on each arm, one with the name Vincent carved in it, and one with the name Anna. His ability to soul-link is an ability he believes is god-given and is given to random males within his village, typically a handful per generation. These men fight for the leadership of the tribe upon the death of the current leader.

Adell comes from a nomadic tribe on Etelluun. He is of a simple nature with a strong but basic code of ethics (don't let other people suffer, protect things that matter to you, don't lie, cheat or steal, greed is bad, and other similiar stuff) that come from his people. On the day of his wedding to his bride Anna, a strange group of marauders wielding foreign technology (from Gaios he later learned) destroyed his tribe and the leader (whom he overheard from one of his underlings speaking to him) took off with some of the tribeswomen, including his bride. Adell has set off with the intention of revenge and has travelled the land, eventually coming to Gaios, and that's where he left off.

Aside from his code, Adell is a very kind-natured person, doesn't get mad quickly, but he's not someone you want to be mad at you. He comes from a primitive society compared to Gaios and is probably considered simple and naive to them. He is trusting, but he learns well from watching and is extremely perceptive.

Stats: See Below.
(Skill) Survivalist: Adell is a skilled hunter and traveller. He can find his own food, drink and shelter while travelling. Lowers or negates energy loss from travel.

(Skill) Combat Expertise: Adell is adept at learning opponent's fighting styles. Every round the opponent attacks physically, Adell's Agility increases, but only for the purpose of dodging their physical attacks. This lasts for every fight Adell has with that opponent.

(Spell) Soul-Link: By transfering magical energy into something, Adell bonds soul to soul. He can communicate telepathically, learn skills and HP damage and healing is split between the two characters.

By transfering MP into an magical item, he can learn one of the enchantments originally placed on the item, and can use it as his own skill or spell.

By transfering MP into an ordinary item, he can add his spirit into the damage and accuracy of a weapon, the defense of the armor, or the effectiveness of an accessory or other item.

By transfering MP into a person, he can learn one or more of their skills after watching them use it.

He can only learn one skill or spell per use, the chance is greater the more energy put into it, and the more times he sees the opponent use it. He can only use this on one specific target once per day, regardless of success or failure.

The spell lasts for one battle if cast in battle or for one hour if out of combat. Once the hour or battle is over, he either learns or doesn't learn a skill. He can only be soul-linked with one object or person at any time.
