Did you do swimming lessons?
Can you swim a full lap of a pool? (size relative to whatever pool you have access to)
Have you ever swam in a river? a lake or pond? the ocean? a heated pool?
When was the last time you went swimming?
How's your swimming skills?

Re: How's your swimming skills?
I swim like a fish. Ma got us swimming lessons, and she took us to the community pool and Y a lot when we were kids (it was cheap, we were broke).
I haven't forgotten how, but I stopped liking swimming back around middle school, and now I'm loath to do it at all. I set foot in the lake at camp I think three times the entire time I worked there (the first two years they insisted I take a swim check even though I had no interest in swimming in the lake (I mean, even if I liked swimming at that point, like, think how gross your average lake is, all loaded with algae, mud, mosquito larvae and snapping turtles, and then multiply that by a million little scouts peeing in it and putting their filthy unwashed bodies in it. Rather go swimming in a cuspidor)).

Re: How's your swimming skills?
I love swimming. I was a little scared of the water when I was very young, until I actually got good at it.
I did lessons at the Y until I finished their entire "curriculum". I didn't have any interest in competition, so that was it for me there.
Yes, I can swim a full lap. I can swim several full laps. In fact, I've done mile swims a few times.
I swam in a river once on a float trip when we found a nice lagoon with no current.
Lake swimming happened every year at Scout camp & a couple times since then on trips to see my in-laws.
I've swam in the Gulf of Mexico 4 times (2 trips to Pensacola, 1 to Galveston, & 1 to Cozumel) & the open Atlantic once (on my honeymoon). I've been to the Pacific coast, but did not get in the water (Fisherman's Wharf isn't safe for swimming 'cause of all the boats & fishing hooks).
Heated pools at a couple of hotels throughout my life.
My last swim was in August; some friends got us into their community center pool.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: How's your swimming skills?
I swim... a lot... but not often, if that makes sense. Because the ocean is cold, I usually only swim in it in summer, but still only in the early morning. I enjoy the heated pool and will sometimes go during winter.
I had swimming lessons with the Royal Life Saving association. I got quite proficient. I doubt I could swim more than a leisurely lap. I can float without effort. I've taught swimming lessons to kids but it stresses me out to keep counting their little heads and making sure they're all okay.
I have swum in many locations... ocean, pools, river, lake and once in a dam. I don't recommend swimming in dams. They are deceptively freeeeeezing.
