Have you done a first aid course?
Do you know CPR? When did you last do a refresher?
Even if you have no first aid training, do you know how to use a defibrillator (AED)?

Re: First Aid and CPR
Did plenty of first aid stuff through the Scouts, as a kid and then particularly as a camp counselor. It was expected that we be able to handle little things and minor injuries personally, or at least keep people alive until the camp medical officer could get there. Additionally, national standards required that a certain percentage of staffers have a CPR cert, so they pretty much just had us all do it. Couple of the buildings with electricity had an AED on-site, and we knew how to use them (I mean, not that you have to know much-----------the machine itself does most of the work for you).
Lefeber was a wilderness camp. Nearest hospital was about an hour's drive away, much of it through a network of old dirt logging roads----------we had to be a little self-sufficient.

Re: First Aid and CPR
Like Boo, I got a ton of first-aid training in Scouts, & I still remember most of it. I've done CPR training a few times, most recently 3 years ago for work, which was the first time I ever had AED training.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: First Aid and CPR
I would love to encourage that everyone learns how to do CPR... until you can organise training, you can watch yt to make yourself familiar with what you would learn in a course. Like Boo said, AEDs talk to you and help you through what's needed. Being familiar with them make them less 'scary'.
For work, I have to have an up-to-date first aid certificate and update my CPR skills yearly. I'm due to update my full first aid again very soon.
Did you all hear about the unfortunate soccer player who collapsed mid-game yesterday? It's a very important reminder that prompt CPR can make a huge difference. He was fortunate to have all the best emergency help available in a moment and a huge hospital next to the stadium.
Happy learning if you decide to either learn or re-learn your CPR skills.
