On the topic of the Mets and Yanks fans hating each others' team: The White Sox and Cub fans are the same exact way.
A salary cap is sorely needed in baseball. Just think: the Yankees could come in *GASP* THIRD!!! I know, unfathomable.
It'd give small market teams like the Cubs and Angels more opportunities to be consistently in postseason, and it would allow half-rate teams like the Tigers and D-Rays an opportunity to get part of the spotlight(and I dont mean nearly breaking the record for most losses in a season). Had a salary cap been issued years ago, I'd bet the Cubs and Red Sox "curses" would be over.

What I'd like see is Microsoft buy a baseball team and out muscle the Yankees by paying each player 2x the salary of the Yankees... mwa ha ha ha... The Yankees are the Lakers of Baseball.
