What is this thing you call continuity, WvW? In one game, Shadow's dead... in another he's back but has no memories... in a third he is alive like nothing happened and Chaos comes back to life like nothing happened..

And these are all supposed to be games which happen canonically near one another!

Not to mention Shadow the Hedgehog refutes key points of SA2, mostly portraying the Professor in a positive light and retconning half of the plot...

Then we have games like Sonic and the Secret Rings, which don't even follow any canon, and Sonic 06, which if it really happened, Silver's gifting of the blue emerald would have prevented all of the Sonic series from ever happening!

By comparison, every game in the Zelda series has continuity. :p

Then there's the personalities. We have Tails originally becoming more independent, then suddenly he's a tag-along behind Sonic again? Amy never stops being a psychotic fangirl, and in the meantime, Shadow degrades from a conflicting dark character to a wacky insane John Wayne-style gunman! This doesn't even include Eggman going from menacing to joker, and Gerald's personality not being allowed to stay 'evil'... and Black doom, who might as well have been made of cardboard. All he thought was 'Take over the world and destroy everybody!'

We don't know the background of everything in the Mario universe because that allows for it to remain more sane. It is due to the story you praise which the relatively easy to maintain Sonic series has... crashed into the ground, so to speak.
AND THAT'S WHY IT'S THE GREATEST GAME EVER.

The reason this announcement is annoying me so much is because they are already working on Unleashed. They should finish working on that game, and make it as great as they can, instead of working at two Sonic games at the same time. Capcom has this problem with MegaMan too, but those games are not as large as Sonic games...

Also, Mario has good continuity, aside from the random party games.

Mario saves Pauline from Donkey Kong. Then, he becomes plumber, and while fixing some sewer systems with his brother, he encounters weird monsters. While investigating, both are sent into Mushroom Kingdom. Go on from there, I guess.

also theory: Sonic's sword is actually King Arthur's spirit or something.

Judge the game on its merits, people, not on some expectation of how a game with Sonic in it should be.
I actually am a fan of the Adventure series, because of it's different options and varied gameplay. However, the essence of Sonic (IMO) was preserved despite this, which is why it was enjoyable. Tails was in a Mech, yeah, but we always knew his propensity for machinery...that was nothing out of left field. Sonic and Knuckles were still jumping around and punching enemies, etc. They didn't have guns or swords.

I just think it's important to understand what kind of series it is and adapt. Can you imagine Mario jumping around, shooting goombas with an uzi? No. But you CAN envision Mario with a water pack thingy (never played Sunshine, excuse my ignorance) or Luigi with a vaccuum. The Mario games are so good because they find ways to reinvent the way we play them without messing with the fundamental spirit of the series. That's why Shadow the Hedgehog in particular was entirely unnecessary.

If my records are correct, the Unleashed Team is brand new and separate from the Team for this one, which is made up of the people who made Sonic and the Seven/Secret whatever rings.
Super Smash Quest: Fighting evil since 2002.

I'm pretty sure SonicTeam has a large base of employees, and that since Sonic Unleashed is so close to coming out that they've pretty much already completed it. Plus, this could just be an announcement that they are gonna start developing a new game after unleashed. You have no information and therefore have no right to make these assumptions.

Sonic has always been edgy. That was drove people away from Mario initially.

Naturally they'd move to guns at some point

No, they were originally selling him as cool and stuff.

Check Sonic's Orgins. You know it to be true.

I hate it when I dumb down my sarcasm.

Oh! Well! NOW it all makes sense. Sonic has been cool, so eventually he needs gunz and swordz to stay hip.

No, that explains it.

It by no means justifies it.

Although I personally enjoyed Shadow the hedgehog. I have to admit giving Shadow Guns came out of almost nowhere.

I guess this is supposed to compete with Super Mario Galaxy.

I have to know more before I give an opinion.

Sega isn't competing with anything. They used to, but now they would be considered "3rd party publishers." If the Dreamcast hadn't bombed, they would still be 1st party.

And, yes WvsW, I've played both games. Shadow The Hedgehog would be good without the WTF story and guns, and SA1 just plain wasn't that good.

You don't seem to have much information either. Most of your post was basically, "Well, maybe..." Also, it's on their coverpage. Meaning they have enough info about it to fill a few pages.

The game is set to be released in Q4. They obviously still have some work to do.

If they're having multiple teams working at a time, that's great for them.

^
^ I get the feeling most of you may have played it on Gamecube, when in fact the DC port of SA was superior. That game gets way more **** than it deserves, it's pretty decent, if you ignore the fact that their mouths are totally out of sync with what they're saying.

At least I beat the final boss on my second try.

I've heard of people who have had really big problems beating him.
