Of course, the real question we need to contemplate is whether or not this is actually helpful. We all have roles, and it's likely that the true role might actually give it away just who the slasher is. After all the Mafia last time were the "nastier" characters from OoT, no?
I'd for the most part file this away, but I don't know how much I'd focus on it for now.
By the way, something's been bugging me. Eastmost peninsula? Great Bay is on the west side of Termina...

Garo... perhaps. Perhaps indeed...
However, I tend to think of the Garo as less of a murderous type of people, more mysterious and secretive. But hey, I'm not Crav... Garo is a very feasable possibility.
The only reason I'm leaning towards the gerudo is that whole 'the key is the eastmost peninsula' or whatever, but I COULD be misinterpreting that. At any rate; we should focus more on lynching someone and our suspicions than this. Sorry for side-tracking you guys...
Then again, since we're still looking for a replacement, maybe this is the perfect time for such a sidetrack. Whatever, I'm cool with just participating for now... I LOVE MAFIA GAMES... being alive is the best.
Anyway, let's commence in... getting more sidetracked?
EDIT: Oooh, TML made a HUUUGE point right there... Great Bay IS on the West side of Termina. So what does this mean...? Hmm, now I'm gonna want to go ponder this... thanks for getting me distracted, TML. :P

I'm still confused about the whole 'Eastmost Peninsula' thing. If Crav simply messed up, that's one thing... but if he didn't, then we will have to rethink our theory about the Garo.
But the question is, what would the Garo want killing Mikau? Because in the Game, if I recall, the Gerudo were the ones related to his death. THIS OPENS UP A WHOLE NEW MYSTERY... Eastmost Peninsula...GRAGH! So very odd!

I'd say that there are two possibilities to this, and really it boils down to Crav's shenanigans.
1. The phrase "Eastmost peninsula is secret" is one of our well passed down phrases in Zeldadom. Is the appearance here just a clever cameo to amuse us?
2. There's actually some meaning here, but this then requires us to know the roles of the people to deduce who it is. Let's say it is the Garo (also not a peninsula, but hey, why not?) Then we have to find someone who actually admits to role playing a Garo? Someone fill me on from Round One; is something like this going to be relevant long term?

Or perhaps the lone slasher is in face Majora/Skull kid, an entirely independent being. I mean, there's no saying that he has to be the leader. It's likely he is the leader of the mafia, but I'm just throwing out another possibility. I dunno. I'm just rambling now.
TML: I would say that trying to deduce characters can come in handy; I'm breaking my promise and reverting to last game (oh dear). I theorized that one of the mafia members was Volvagia based on the way that Ace was killed. Wy later let slip the Fear Gaze thing. That was huge. So, determining the characters could prove to be very useful to us in the future, because ANYONE can make a mistake.

There, that should provide an alternative explanation.

OH MY GOD... ZG, you actually might be right. Majora didn't care who died, as long as he was on top. He strove for his own purposes, not caring who died or was hurt. You actually may be right in this case!!
So, I'm going to disregard the whole 'Eastmost Peninsula' issue; I just don't have an answer as of now, except for the common Zelda expression TML mentioned. I actually think ZG may be onto something... hmm! What a very interesting thought...

If we believe a Gerudo is the slasher, it would probably have to be the Pirate leader (I forget her name, or even if she had one). Crav probably didn't assign races as roles.
Likewise, if we consider a Garo, I'd say it would have to be the Garo Master.
Again, this probably isn't useful right now, but it may become useful later. ZeldaGirl's Majora-as-slasher theory seems the most likely to me, though.
And with that, I'm off to bed... or rather, since it's still Day 1, I'm going to take a nap.

Yes indeedy. Here are my thoughts as of now:
-Garo: It is possible. They have knives, live in eastern termina, and are powerful folks.
-Gerudo: Again, possible. They're ruthless thieves, live in the water, and are related to Mikau's death in the game.
-Majora: Very possible. He is a ruthless heartless evil killer, and will hurt anyone to further his own ends. After all, it was ultimately HE who caused the death of Mikau, what with the cursing of Great Bay and also being the one who convinced the Gerudo to go after Zora eggs.
Eastmost Peninsula... for now, I'm just going to think of it as a reference to that quote Wy posted, and think it's not TOO relevant to this. I could be wrong, however, and it could be JUST the code to deciphering who our slasher is... I don't really know.
...yep. You guys?
DOUBLE POSTZORZ: oh, and to Rayman... I agree with you; it wouldn't just be a random member. It would have to be Aveil (that's the name of the Gerudo leader), the Garo Master, or Majora himself.

ZG: I said that because
a)I said ACTUALLY because I was so biased toward my idea and I was amazed at how much more logical and realistic your idea was.
b) I said 'IN THIS CASE' because nobody's perfect. True, you and Hottie were practically 100% right last time; but I think that as I was typing that I just meant to say that you were probably right in this instance; that's not to say you always are.
The words came out of me; I wasn't thinking deeply while typing them. That's all.
DOUBLE POST:
Well I love you all dearly, but like Rayman, it's time for my nap.
I just hope that creepy shrimp doesn't stalk me to my hideout again...

Well, this has been an exciting day for sure. (First time I've actively refreshed topics at VGF in a long time several times an hour!) I don't think I have any fingers to point juuuuust yet. But I will agree with Wy on one important thing: There is something that very much needs clearing up. So, if I can invent my own little "FoS Light"...

All that Majora's Mask talk has fried my brain, so I'm going to try to recap what you two girls (and a few other people) said:
So you're trying to figure out the Role of the "Slasher", correct?
You people seemed to narrow it down to three Roles:
Aveil, the Gerudo leader,
The Garo Master,
and Majora, right?
Finally you people mentoned something about the Eastern Peninsula, where I'm hopelessly lost on...
I'm getting a headache trying to think about all this. Is there anything I missed?
