Confound it all, I need to go to sleep (that is, assuming I CAN sleep. I'm way too pumped).

Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the Black Hand bite!

CLOCK TOWN TIMES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA!

Mafia Moves Into Clock Town, Citizens Terrified, Demand Action!

Residents of West Clock Town were shocked to learn that the Lottery Shop, located just across the street from the post office and a long time a source of entertainment for locals, had been robbed yesterday. Unfortunately, this does not seem to have been a random incident, but rather an insidious sign of things to come. An employee, who was working at the shop at the time had this to say:

"They didn't say they were robbing us. They called it "protection money" and said they were collecting the weekly fee.
When I told them that I wasn't aware we'd hired a new security force, one of the men laughed and began kicking the potted plant in the corner until it cracked and dumped dirt all over the floor. Then he turned to me and said in the coldest voice I've ever heard in my life "It'd sure be a shame if something like this happened again." I've never been so scared! It was my favorite plant, too..."

Local officals say this is evident that an organised crime ring known as a "mafia" has moved into our fair city. The mayor declined comment, and informed us that his wife would not be available to answer any questions.

The town counsel has declaired that an emergency town meeting will be held at the town hall to deal will the problem this morning at 8 o'clock sharp. All concerned citizens are encouraged to attend... ...continued on A3

Local Musician Found Dead

Early this morning the body of Mikau, lead guitarist of the popular band "The Indigo-goes" was found washed up on the beach on the tip of the Great Bay peninsula. The victim appears to have died of repeated stab wounds to the back. The local guards have no suspects at this time, but urge anybody who may have information about the slaying to come forward.
A homicide expert who was brought in to help with the case had this to say.
"Eastmost Peninsula is most definately the secret to solving this crime. At this time we believe it to be unrelated to any mafia activity."

Through all the confusion, one thing is certain. On top of recent news that a mafia has made it's new home in Clock Town there appears to also be a serial killer on the loose. Dark days lay ahead for the good people of Termina.

Family and bandmates could not be reached for comment.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow at the Zora Hall from noon to six. Well wishers and fans are invited to attend.

OoC: I'm quoting this for certain individuals who may need to be reminded. :p
9. In the last game there was quite a bit of confusion about role playing and it turned into a big mess. So I'm saying this now. IF YOU WISH TO ROLE PLAY IT IS NEITHER RECOMENDED NOR IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO ROLEPLAY YOUR SECRET ROLE! If the mafia know your role then they can pick and choose when they want you dead. This is hardly ideal"]

Just for the record. And no, this is NOT my role. -OoC

"Oh my," said the youth in dreamy tones, walking into the town hall with such a light step that he might as well have been floating. His eyes were dreamy too, and his expression looked as if he had something entirely else on his mind.

"Excuse me," he said to anyone there, "has anyone seen my Honey? She's about yea tall, with hair like silk and the most beautiful eyes in the world..." He trailed off there, taking a seat but watching the door to the hall constantly, sighing between long pauses.

"I hope she gets here soon."

Walking up the cobblestone streets by herself, the girl's usually buoyant features appeared subdued, perhaps even approached wistful. She gave a slight curtsy to whoever happened to be standing at the entrance of the town hall and spoke in a shy, lilting voice.

"Pardon me, but has my Darling arrived yet? He has long, dark locks of hair, and the most dashing smile of any gentleman in town. And his voice...!" What may have been a much lengthier description cut short as the speaker's eyes caught the movement of an all too familiar blue and white clothed individual from further inside the building.

"Oh Darling, there you are!" the girl exclaimed in a burst of genuine happiness. "I've missed you so."

Dancing over, she clasped his hands in hers, and touched her forehead lightly to his.

"You've saved me a seat, haven't you?"
The hills are shadows, and they flow
From form to form, and nothing stands;
They melt like mist, the solid lands,
Like clouds they shape themselves and go.

OoC: Pardon us, guys, character intros need to be finished here. -OoC

His hands fell to her waist and hers rose to his neck and they stared into each others eyes, swaying as if they were about to begin dancing.

"Honey, must we sit? Couldn't we stand here and look into one another's eyes until the world crumbles around us and only we two are left?"

"Oh, Darling..."

"But you are right, my Honey: there is grave work ahead, and the fates of many might rest on our shoulders. For our sake, for your sake, I will tear myself from your arms," and here he leaned in and grinned, "though I will not leave your side - ever."

They parted, but he held her hand, and gestured to his seat and the one next to it.

"Let us see what we can do together, Honey."

They sat together, and they waited.

In the cool, gentle shade beneath long wooden stairs lay a person. While sunlight poured over Clock Town and woke its inhabitants, this one continued their rest. It was a lazy day, a relatively peaceful day... it was certainly a day to sleep in.

Even the sounds of people coming outside and going about their business, the light yip yip! of dogs and crowing of a rooster could not raise this person. They slept like the dead.
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

That Headline concerned me. The "citizens" had good reason to be terrified. What if the Mafia wanted BLOOD???? A shiver goes down my spine, but I finally arrived at the Town Hall.

Fortunately, it doesen't look like I'm late; only a few early risers were in attendence, including what looks like two young lovers. It reminded me of my own youthful days and... her. I miss the blue-haired beauty that was once by my side, murdered by SOMEBODY... :(

I come to see that it never happens again, and now seeing those two young people, my resolve couldn't be any stronger...

Darling poured over the newspaper in his hands, the only thing all morning that had managed to distract him from Honey, who was reading over his shoulder.

She pointed to the article about the death of Mikau, and he drew in his breath between his teeth. She pat his hand, and then he rose to stand before those already assembled, newspaper still in his hands.

"Friends, lend me your ears a moment. There are two things of note I want to point out here. The first is from the Clock Town Times, which reads:
Cravdraa] wrote:
This means that not only do we have to deal with the Mafia, but there is a Slasher on the loose, a single individual who works apart from the Mafia and whose whole goal is to see everyone in the game dead. He or she is enemy to Townie, Hero, and Mafia: we need to beware of this individual, who is as bad as is imaginable for a gathering this size.

One other thing that bothers me:
Rayman FREAK]Confound it all wrote:Black Hand bite!
I know this probably doesn't mean anything in particular, but it worries me and I want an explanation. We need to hang someone today, inaction is our greatest enemy (as I am sure you will agree, Honey), and in light of this fact I demand to know what this 'Black Hand' refers to. Until then...."

His accusatory finger pointed to nowhere in particular, as the individual had yet to arrive.

Black Hand is a synonym for mafia. It's a reference to the violence inherent in mafia extortion, and I thought it had a nice ring with "bite."

Yeah, maybe not the best idea to admit I know different words for mafia, but I guarantee there's nothing more to it than that. I thought it was a better-known term.

Moving on, I'm not going to make any assumptions right now. I'm going to wait and do some more reading today, then I'll probably have some ideas for this evening (about 8 hours away, my time). If anything big comes up before then, I may or may not be around, and will act according to my take on it.

[ooc]
You know that part Wy so kindly quoted about not RPing your true secret role? This is more o' dat.
[/ooc]

It's about this time that a ghost from the past--someone who moved out long ago and was long thought gone--exits his little humble Terminian abode, picking up the newspaper. He turns to go back inside as he unfolds it in his hands, but hehalts his movement back inside the moment he reads the headlines.

He sighs a bit as he glimpses through the article. No news ever seemed to be good news these days. But then again, what could you expect from the media nowadays?

Soon afterwards, The Missing Link (hereafter referred to as TML, for short) heard an assembly of people gathering within the Clock Town square, some of them armed with fire arrows, tridents, hookshots, and Deku nuts. Gosh, this reminded him very deeply of all the fire arrow wars that the members of this quaint little town that he had left a few years ago. It was it was only yesterday... yesterday when he was on the very Council of this village, trying to quell these rebellions himself. He shakes his head, dispatching those memories; "Times have changed, TML. You're not in charge anymore. But at the very least, it couldn't hurt to see what all the hullabaloo is all about..."

TML takes a seat at the town square (or wherever everyone happens to be gathered, it's not that important) and sits down quietly as he analyses the scene. A few bold statements have already been proclaimed, but TML as of yet remains silent, needing a bit more before he actually speaks. The situation, however, looked far more serious that the fire arrow wars of years past, and so TML started pouring over the headlines on the front page of his newspaper--this time, in depth--just to make sure he's up to date on all the latest events.

Just north of Clock Town, in a small hut to the north was an observatory. Inside, and old man resided looking at the sky, surprised by the fact he could see the dull brown moon smiling down at him during the daytime.

He looked around more and spotted a small kid on the top of Clock Tower dancing around and shaking its booty. He took his eyes off his telescope.

"What are those blasted cheerleaders doing up there? That's dangerous! I better inform their parents."

He took his cane and paced down the stairs through the creepy basement that the small bomber children called their 'hideout.'

"Parents these days let their children wander about without a single care. I ought to put some sense into these poor townsfolk."

He walked up the little alleyway leading to East Clock Town to be stopped by a Child from the Bomber's Society.

"Hey! What's the password? You can't get through without it!"

Almost instantly, the old man cocked his head and looked directly into the child's eyes. The child immediately backup and and quivered away.

"Okay! Okay! That works just as well."

The Old Man then proceeded towards the center of town. He picked up what seemed to be an urgent newspaper and began to read it.

"Oh dear.."

Something I just thought of:
A map of Clock Town could prove useful. Today's paper listed the Lottery Shop in W. Clock Town as a business that the mafia has extorted. If the paper continues to track the movements of the mafia, we may be able to garner some clues. To that end, perhaps a map would make potential patterns and clues easier to see. This FAQ has an accurately labeled map of Clock Town (search the document for "map of Clock Town," it should be the second hit). I urge the town to familiarize itself with this map, and to refer back to it if it may seem helpful.

YAY MAFIA!!

Now for a fake RP as a conversation starter.

AHEM.

He grinned. Not because he was happy or anything; he simply grinned because he was a creepy prancing grinny freak. The world would suspect something if he DIDN'T grin.

He skipped on in.

"Oh, my... a mafia? INDEED. Seems I've started a bit of a crime trend... hehe."

The theif clasped a glinting golden mask in his hand, hoping a certain purple-haired shrimp wouldn't notice him.

YAY MAFIA! I'm ecstatic!

Gah, it's so hard to be serious here. I'm so used to making fun at Mafia in the sign-up topic, not to mention having fun with these fake role-plays... I CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!

Bah. Once we start linking people, maybe I'll be able to actually get my head into the game.
