Character of the Week: Kato

Image
Name: Kato
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Occupation: Diplomat for the Japanese military
From: Shadow Hearts, Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Info:
Spoiler.
Kato is technically the final antagonist in Shadow Hearts: Covenant. In the first game, he was in China with Lt. Kawashima, whom he fell in love with. After Kawashima was assasinated, he rose in the ranks of the Japanese army, eventually becoming somewhat of a diplomat.

Kato developed the "Mutant Apes", which are somewhat like "Genetically enhanced humans". One of which was made from the DNA of Kawashima, which he gave extra attention too. Kato appears to be an ally, teaming up against Astaroth with the heroes, but once Kawashima is killed a second time for him, he decides that he will change the world.

Kato opens up the gateway to the Takamagahara(sp) plains, where he plans to destroy the world by warping it 100 years into the past, where he will guide it to a better future. He becomes Susan-o using the power, but he is destroyed by Yuri.

In a similar fashion to Dhaos, Kato is not actually evil. He has righteous goals, but these involve destroying the world.
I have no idea who this is or anything about him. I haven't played Shadow Hearts, so I can't really say much at all here.

My suggestion reserve has run out. Please PM me more suggestions. I hate having to come up with stuff every week.

Yours was CotWhatever, mine is CotWeek. There's a difference. Besides, future RPG mod or not, there's really no reason for you to be taking away what I'm doing. I was the one who brought it back, I'll continue it.

^You aren't mod yet. Be careful about acting as if you are. Auron is the one who brought this back, so I think it's only fair it's in his jurisdiction until a mod has been officially appointed. (Remember, the number of votes don't determine mods, ultimately, it's up to the admin's discretion. Be wary.)

Annnyway, getting back to topic at hand. I've not taken Shadow Hearts story too seriously enough to comment on this chap. I only like the battle style of the game.

I'm not acting as if I am, ZG. I just want to suggest a CotW for a change. And I want to choose someone from Earthbound. This doesn't have anything to do with who's mod and who's not a mod. This has to do with the fact that I wanted to do it and it's been over a week since someone did it, so I decided to take some initiative. I don't think you have to be a mod or even think you are to show some initiative. -CSM

You could PM Auron your suggestion. But, he's the one who brought this back (it was even in his member forum for a long time), and he's been relatively consistent with it. So, until there is an official mod of this forum, I think we should just keep it the way it is. But, he's open to taking suggestions (as he said in his first post).

Okay, sorry. I didn't mean to sound all cranky about this; I just feel like suggesting something. Also, I've been having a rough week, so I'm feeling a bit cranky. I hope you can understand. -CSM

Probably too busy petitioning to get Mother 3 released (Or even Wii-leased on virtual console) or translating a ROM. I didn't really have that much to say about the Runaway Five.

Kato's one of my favourite villains, though
Spoiler.
his sudden change into the 'final antagonist' was rather abrupt...He's basically your ally, even after he technically aids Nicolai at the end of Disc one and then suddenly he says "I'm gonna destroy the world."

Not as good as Van, Kefka, or Dhaos, but he was one of the better ones..he actually has some motivation behind his plans without having a personality in which you know he's evil.

I undertand what it's like to have a crappy week, but I did say I would be doing it every Sunday. I just happened to do it at midnight yesterday (oops)And I did mention numerous times that I need suggestions be PM'd to me because I can't think of ideas every week. I would greatly appreciate your input CSM, I would just prefer it if you didn't act impulsively like that. By the way ZG, you were probably one of about only two people who ever checked my member forum anyway.

If anyone has any suggestions, PM them to me.

But yeah, crappy weeks do suck. You just gotta plow through them and hope the next week will be better.
