I'm in favour of it. I've been in a couple to date, but my rule is that I have a friendship first with the person before I jump head over heels into a relationship. It's just the way it goes with me in dating. *shrugs*

Fine with me. As long as A. It's two people who are like close to the same age... B. It ain't stalking... and C. They aren't doing any of this "cyber-sex" crap infront of me. (Kid in the comp lab was doing this the other day at school) o_0'' Still scared. Some pretty nasty stuff I saw.

I wouldn't get into one. I'd have to be physically there with her and talk to her. Nothing can replace a girl's smile... seriously, a girl who's smiling and that I already love can literally leave me in a daze. But I don't really have a problem with people on a net relationship, as long as it's not someone you met a second ago on a chat that was like "asl? omg ur my age let's meet up and f**k!" Cause that's just shallow, retarded, and just about as low as you can possibly sink in life if you have to lower yourself to pornographic words on a computer screen to get your thrills. I once even had this girl ask me to cyber with her after the first 5 minutes of talking (merely for the fact that we were both 14, I presume). Jesus Christ. You can guess what answer she got...
If it's good, and if you truly care about the other person after a good while of knowing each other, then I've got no complaints and no admonitions.

I've been in one for the past two years, going on two and a half. It's a very interesting and personal way to build a relationship - if, that is, neither one of you is an idiot.

Online dating? Well, it seems like most of you have had way more experience than I have, since I hadn't had any, but I guess I could throw in my two cents...
I don't really have a problem with it. I mean, it seems kind of pointless because you aren't even there. What, pop up on AIM starting with *kiss*? Say "I know, I know, it's okay" repeatedly when she's depressed? I'd much rather actually be there and hold her in my arms to comfort her. I'd rather actually be there and greet her with a kiss on the cheek.
So there are obviously some downfalls to net relationships. The upsides aren't obvious to me, but i'm sure there are some. I haven't had a net relationship, so those of you who have, feel free to write me of as that guy who has no idea what he's talking about.

The NRA says \"Guns don\'t kill people, people kill people\"...but I think the gun helps. I don\'t think someone going around yelling \"BANG!\" is going to kill too many people.

Exactly why I wouldn't get into an online relationship. But I've had friends over the net that were a lot closer than I would originally have thought possible through the internet. I do think it is possible to develop love throughout the internet (although maybe not as meaningful?), but it's not my thing. It's fine by me, though, as long as they're not like my above post.Originally posted by c_jks:

Shinigami sees no problem with them as long as they are mature enough to realize that the ultimate inevitability is that they will have to eventually meet, so that they are not delusional and believe that a relationship can last without meeting. That's just silly.
Besides that...Internet relationships are sometimes good, though I haven't had one personally, I've known people who have. I believe that there's a good thing about it, for you don't just like someone for their 'look', and you actually get to know them. Besides that, some people just aren't approachable offline, and they are more generous online.

I know of people that have had or currently are in a 'net' relationship. I admire their tenacity and determination to make a long-distance relationship work. Instant communication via various methods helps them keep in close contact. I hope for them that all their dreams come true.
Regarding different types of relationships... I have friends online. Serious friendship that I don't necessarily have in my every day life. A special few that I can share things with at times. I never think of them as anything less than a complete person with feelings, dreams and fears... and I appreciate more than words can express that they can tolerate me.

I'm currently in one right now.
It's really difficult...not being able to be there physically for your love when they need you, and not being able to experience the physical part of the relationship. It will be worth it though, when you and and your loved one meet offline. But that is also when your relationship will be put to the test.
I think it's worth it, though...especially if everything works out. ^_^
