Nope, and your can't trade them or sell them either. The only easy way to get them I've heard of is on the GBA island.

They do nothing! I planted one in front of Twiggy's house. All she did was go up to it, take it out of the hole, and nothing happened. I think you guys are lying.

The pitfall is a trap. If an animal walks on top of it they fall in and get stuck up to their necks. They we be extremly annoyed and they are powerless to prevent you from wacking them with your net until they get out.

I've obtained pitfalls in numerous ways(2 to be exact)

1. Found buried in ground like gyroids and fossils.
2. It is possible to receive them from villagers. one of em challenged me to a trivia. if I won, I get a great prize. if I lose, I fork over all my bells for a mystery prize. and that mystery was the pitfall.

EDIT: That bastard Leopold suckered me into buying a pitfall again.
