Overrated: GOLDEN SUN.
All the Final Fantasy Games, 6 and up (not counting non series based ones like Tactics)
Super Mario RPG

Misunderstood: Phantasy 1 and 2. Not 3, don't know about 4, because somehow, I have completely failed to get the game.
Erm... I haven't played many misunderstood RPGs, actually.

-A Genius (In an unrelated matter, I don't think River City Ransom really counts as an RPG. I'm just deriving this fact from reviews and such, though, so I'm not going to make a major argument.)
