"Eheheheh...sorry I'm late."

A slightly monotonous voice rang out, ridden slightly with a sense of apology; and, with that, a small opening seemed to form within the small amount of people as if allowing her to pass. Of course, passing wasn't an effortless gesture considering what Neo held in gingerly in her hands--a halbred, towering above her loftily...a "naginata," the pride of the females of samurai clans, and a sort of home-protector. However, in the case of the actual warrior, it was often used like a spear...only there were more intricate ways of fighting with this then of the ways Master Onizuka had told her.

"Sorry I'm late," she repeated, scratching her head. "Is that okay with you?" she asked warily, holding it rather horizontally--bading the monotonous, apparently unnoticing people to step aside, lest they be hit by the overall seven-and-a-half foot polearm. Only silence replied, and, as if a small sense of understanding Neo nodded slightly, her slightly amiable smile twitching.

The samurai faced Yami Yoshi, her hold tilted slightly so as to be raised a little bit aways from the ground; more weight was applied to her left hand, and the right simply kept it from tipping to the grass silently. Of course, she was more or less at a 3/4 angle, enough so her blazing threads would flutter slightly before her face. In this way, she resembled a lion...except...well, you know. o_O Nonetheless, Neo changed her grip so that her right had more hold then her left, then let go of it altogether, allowing it to stand upright in her "weapon hand". Her left arm, however, stretched over her neck slightly, only a bit away from her mouth and face yet not exactly grasping the shaft of her weapon.

Neo's right hand began to twirl it rapidly, creating the illusion of more then one weapon--but it was just for show, not much else. However, seeing as how the halbred was about 3 feet taller then her, her arm was quite outstretched in this; the blade still touched the ground, but did not bounce back...rather, it sliced entirely through the solid earth whatsoever, causing the grass to fling their cuts out slightly with the cold night wind.

Yami Yoshi's eyes darted up and down, searching for an opening; however, it was an idle flick and not much else. At a distance, it would appear as if he was doing diddly squat. Ryoko had taught Neo--or rather Paichi--to examine every piece of their enemy carefully. Look at their muscles, Paichi, Neo thought bitterly to herself, retaining the same downright neighborly grin. And then, Yami Yoshi rushed towards, legs making little to no sound against the tender ground.

"Look mom, they're fighting!" Through the distance, the excited voice of a child pointed in the direction of Central Park, fidgeting edgily. The long to view this little skirmish was implied, but an impatient mother tapped the kid on the shoulder.

"Don't look! Let's go!"

"But mom, they're soooooo cool!" The last of the whine resonated throughout as the parent ushered the toddler to another section of the park, throwing Neo a rather dirty glance. Needless to say, the female warrior didn't pursue it.

A small shape formed in the gap between Yami Yoshi's closed arms, clutching a single Egg as he plunged in. His body was crouched slightly low in an unorthodox method, about to smash the hard shell into Neo's back. However, the twirling seemed to cease as Neo bent backwards, plunging the end of the polearm between that single rift with a close, rather bombastic style...though to the untrained eye, she seemed rather focused and actually serious about this match.

In a single instant, Neo watched, as if in slow-motion, Yami Yoshi fall with a rather surprised look plastered onto his face, as she quickly retracted her naginata and quickly smacked the opposite end--the bladeless one--onto his shoulder, prompting him to spin over and fall, facing the darkened sky... His face remained in a small state of astonishment, and though it quickly melted, it was obvious he was trying to comprehend what had just happened in that instant, until he felt the pole of the naginata press against some point in his stomach...

In a flash, as soon as the very edge of that light metal pressed against this area, there was a horrible sound of anguish ridden; indeed, Yami Yoshi felt as if the very veins and nerves were about to collapse and/or burst with some detestable swelling pain.

However, withstanding this, he crept to his feet in a small crouch, naginata still pressed against some point in his torso and eyes flickering with unwanted color, and suddenly swung his arm out violently in an attempt to smack Neo away. Of course, this wasn't to necessary, but Neo leapt up slightly, raising said polearm to block this and bounding off the impact a few yards away. Her sandals had made impact with his arm and bounced off resiliently, turning a flawless somersault in midair and landing on the ground.

Her knees sank into a deep crouch as if absorbing whatever impact there was, but as if the pain was minimized to a strong extend she seemed to land safely. Yami Yoshi, however, had been knocked back and fell with, his cranium making hard impact with the dirt.

Neo felt a sense of slight tension, though her "saintly" smile had failed to bolt from her face into her usual mask of rock and dull. If you had been in a duel long enough with her, the smile would eventually seem almost sinister. But maybe that was a trick of the eye and not much else; the long effects of fatigue, pain, etc. shining through in the form of a cadaverous smirk, eating away at one's...viewing...of things...

But I digress again.

Yami Yoshi pulled himself up and faced Neo staring at her almost with a smile.

"You are a obviously a powerful warrior," he complimented, "You would probably defeat me in the real world...But this is the Matrix."

"What are you talking about!?" asked Neo with a tone of uncertainy in her voice.

"You still have much to learn about the Matrix," said Yami Yoshi, "Take this!"

Yami Yoshi walked over to a red sports car parked on the sidewalk and picked it up. It would have been impossible for a creature of his size to lift it in reality. He held the sports car over his head and chucked it Neo with an impressive velocity. Neo held the handle of her polearm with both hands behind her back and slashed the flying sports car in half.

"Heh...Not bad," said Yami Yoshi.

Yami Yoshi bent his knees and jumped toward Neo at an incredible velocity. When Yami Yoshi was about a few inches away from Neo, is body stood upright midair, and he released a powerful kick which knocked Neo into a New York trashcan. The trashcan toppled over by the force of Neo's body and spilled its filthy contents all over the pavement.

"How did you do that!?" asked the shocked samurai, "That's impossible!"

"You can bend the rules however you want in the Matrix," explained Yami Yoshi.

Yami Yoshi walked into to shop called "The Sword Store". About a minute later, he walked out holding a five-foot silver sword. Its blade glistened in the sunlight.

"That's no where near as sharp as my polearm," commented Neo scoffing at the Yoshi's pathetic sword, "You aren't actually gonna fight me are you?"

"Honestly I don't know anything about swordplay," said Yami Yoshi, "Yet..."

Yami Yoshi pulled a cell phone out of his pocket flipped it open.

"Black Yoshi, I need you to upload me every single sword play move in the world," he spoke into the cell phone.

Yami Yoshi closed his eyes for a few moments and then opened them and smiled wickedly at Neo.

"Heh heh heh," he said, "Let's duel!"

Yami Yoshi bent his knees and jumped toward Neo aiming the point of the sword at Neo's heart. Neo swung her blade smashing it into his. Yami Yoshi was smashed back by the incredible force and velocity of Neo's blade and he deflected him airbourne. Yami Yoshi performed a back-flip and landed feet first safely on the ground. He managed to catch his breath for a few seconds but not before Neo swung her sword horizontally at him. Yami Yoshi sprung into the air as the the blade of her sword flew underneath his feet. Yami Yoshi held the handle of his sword behind his head and prepared to smash it into Neo's head. Neo defended herself and held the blade of her sword over her head. Yami Yoshi's sword collided into Neo's sword with a loud clank and he was knocked backward into the pavement.

"This is just the beginning..." said Yami Yoshi.

Yami Yoshi pressed a button on the handle of the sword. The sword split in half vertically and they two blades landed on the ground with a clatter. Yami Yoshi picked up both swords and examined them. Each blade was much smaller than the original sword but now he had two.

"En garde!" cried Yami Yoshi again and he charged toward Neo. He swung his left sword in a vertical motion at Neo. She cut sword out of Yami Yoshi's left hand. However, she was unprepared to block the right sword which Yami Yoshi sliced at her chest.

The park was filled was a shrill scream. Neo landed on her knees and clutched her stomach pain as blood poured out of the horitonzal gash on her stomach.

"It's a minor wound. You'll live," explained Yami Yoshi, "However, I would've killed you if I hit your vitals."

Neo winced in pain as the blood poured out of her hands and splattered onto the pavement. She still didn't understand the concept of the Matrix...It was only a matter of time...Neo pulled herself up from the bloodstained pavement and stood upright in the opposite direction of Yami Yoshi...

Alright, alright, it's time I got my ass in gear. Yami Yoshi, I am EXTREMELY sorry for leaving you hanging like that. Sorry. Sorry sorry sorry. ;_;

---

Well...this is interesting.

Neo's eyes quickly glanced over each saber in turn, as if scanning some detail, some fact she had missed: and it was so, as her eyes glittered with some kind of malice or knowledge; and with a startling gesture, Neo's head tilted upward--eyes gleaming in a catlike, almost demonic manner at the full moon. Much to Yami Yoshi's horror, the sparkle--the scintillation that "graced" her verdant orbs seemed to reflect upon a ivory-tinged moon...twin green spots appeared in slits upon the pearly surface, looming aloft and making the moon appear almost sickly, damaged, or even sinister.

Feeling exhuberant--so many people who wished a piece of her, so many who wanted to fight and feel blood splatter onto clothes and flesh (whose blood, now that was something she didn't wish to think about)--she beamed at him, a kindly smile that didn't quite reach her desolate eyes. Face-to-face with a creature that now had every style consuming his thoughts, installed almost automatically into his brainwaves that would soon shine through his actions...it was exciting, like being on a roller coaster about to do several loops with the wind slapping at your face.

But she had a couple of advantages, a few that passed nonchalantly into her mind: with equal strength divided into holding two shorter blades, his reach and one-hand strength would be significantly be lowered, even with several arts in mind. Disarming him would only cause him to summon another. There was something else, though...

Neo used absolutely no set style of martial arts or sword combat.

Neo let her single hand, the one splattered with her own blood, drop to the side of her hakama; she felt blood cascade out of the pit in her chest, and off her fingertips where semi-long, often cracked fingernails were somewhat longish. As she felt her dark gi consume the blood, staining it slightly with a deep maroon color--she charged at Yami Yoshi. Unfortunately, the wait appeared to be too much--Yami Yoshi had already began his footing towards her, and she found a significantly shorter distance between her. Fine--she would simply have to construe another plan, one for a more...insignificant distance.

The part of the Naginata that was not blade but merely a shadow of a Kendo stick met the cold steel of two blades, held parallel to one another with much shaking--the swords began to try and dig into the wood, attempting to shatter the wood that enabled her reach. But no--stubborn, Neo wasn't about to let that happen. Sliding backwards slightly, allowing him a more considerable force over the lock, her emerald optics flickered idly to his own. Concentration.

Twin blades began to shiver in Yami Yoshi's hands, almost as if trembling with quelled energy as across from her, he attempted to close the distance--and create two long, identical scars from her neck down near her chest. Fine--let sacrifices be made--

As Neo lowered her blade even slightly, she felt Yami Yoshi raised his blades in a swift movement, slicing open two lines down from the infinitesimal distance between the skin of her jugular and her throat area; yet in an even more aloof way, she absorbed every strike as if it were already there. Taking advantage of the aftermath of the strike (he had to maneuver the blades upward for full effect), she ducked lower feeling a sting around her neck vein, and thrust the blade into his stomach.

Her arm tugged back slightly, removing the shimmering edge from where it sank into his skin, like a hard-thrown ball into a pitcher's glove.

He didn't scream, but earlier she certainly didn't expect to scream. Neo was positively set into a fit of mortified laughter at the very thought (of course not now) of giving up her adventurous life for one of peace and quiet: she was nobody's princess, and proved that with every slash, kick, and parry she performed in the presence of fellow fighters she considered acquaintences.

Warriors often didn't wear armor. It was often heavy and made it less easy to maneuver, but in the cases of impalement or swords it was often a good thing--and thrown aside by an adjusted warrior, it made them perhaps three times as faster and more difficult to hit. In this case, it was a shame Yami Yoshi wasn't wearing armor--then again...

Sliding backwards with her sandal, dirt clouding up but immediatly fading as she artfully maneuvered backwards, the length of her Naginata making itself known as it remained firmly within stabbing distance of Yami Yoshi even as she moved a foot or two away; feeling comfortable with her grip, she watched closely as Yami Yoshi fell into a tense offensive position. As Yami Yoshi twirled his blades expertly, like a chef with blades about to cut carrots in that funky way they do, Neo's eyes began to coruscate like a vivid emerald held in candlelight, gazing at him eagerly...almost hungrily. Yes, she loved this thrill--the fight, the blades, the electricity shedding from two blades locked in the heat of the struggle.

She felt like a coarse, savage warrior--but she didn't hate herself for that.

"I suppose, then, with your knowledge, you should be able to summon anything at will..." Neo murmured, half to herself but loud enough so Yami Yoshi heard it, and he nodded with startling fortitude; she nodded again, her eyes glancing at his but instead focusing upon the empty air. She was no longer in the safety of a physical reality; he could summon bandages, aid, and many other things. But she knew things, too. She wasn't that stupid. "However," she continued to herself, wrapped in her own thoughts, "this isn't a total out-of-body experience...people can die all the same." Neo looked up. The last part...with the people dying... she said it in a rather unconventional tone of voice, and her eyes glittered malignantly. There isn't much I can say about that, except it probably would've made Satan look like a Labrador Retriever puppy with a ribbon tied around its neck.

Neo possessed several interesting talents: the ability to manipulate, create, and destroy the molecules of gas (but never solid, removing her ability to simply rip a foe apart, or liquid, disabling her wish to make people shrivel up by blood coming out of some random crevice) and add or remove heat energy. You might associate this with psychic powers, charging things up, and the like... She prefered to call it total control over wind, heat, and fire.

Artificial or not...

She felt good enough to make another lunge, her brow knitting in hopeful concentration; she glanced her opposer up and down, as if netting all openings, entrances and possible plans. But a slight tapping caught her ears.

Apparently, he'd mistaken the shifting of her eyes as the means of a beginning of attack--which, truthfully, wasn't too far off--but she looked up in a flash to see Yami Yoshi making a dangerous advance, his speed startling to the femme warrior; which was bad. She'd needed a few free seconds... oh well. Deciding to put her instincts to good use, she relaxed almost immediatly, allowing herself to passively percieve the enemy actions with her mind slightly on something else. Block, parry, counter. Don't attack straightforward. Think.

As soon as these thoughts consumed her mind, her eyes became foggy and desolate; almost far-off, like when a person is daydreaming. She often did that; it reminded her of the Saotome secret technique, except without running away. It also seemed to piss off most opponents.

Neo knocked away a blade impassively with the back of her hand, her face passing on from the dreamy state and returning to a state of menace. Of course, this state of danger was also accompanied by an annoying, controlled air--almost as if she had the situation under control, as if she was simply another carefree warrior almost positive she would win. She was back into consciousness, and immediatly proceeded to push Yami Yoshi backwards with her blade with sharp blows and pauses; the short sparring continued excitingly, speeding up occasionally to the point that each swing was a mere blur (even the Naginata--long, seven or nine feet tall appeared as nothing but a whiz of lightning-silver and black) or even slowing down, Yami Yoshi panting from exhaustion... But Neo had this look, a fire that wouldn't go out. Even if she was totally aware of what was going on, it was as if her fighting spirit had taken over her body and actions, pressing her to move forward even if he DID chuck another car at her, no matter what the consequences be. As they came to a short lock of weapons, their faces less then a foot away from the other...Yami Yoshi glanced at her eyes instead of the blades. She grinned psychotically.

"En garde." she said softly, her breath smelling like ash in his face. And, in a flash, she pulled away and smashed viciously through one of the swords with a crack. In surprise, Yami Yoshi's grip on the blade dropped--it fluttered to the ground, in two pieces. "Good luck."

OOC: Don't worry. Expect to see a reply sometime next week. ;)

By the way, did you come up with your name Neo by using Neo's name in "The Matrix"?
