He DOES imply that, in combination with his topic title and reason.

DBZM, he didn't say it was limited to world powers.
" >>>>> Of all the great military powers<<<<<< , the US if probobly the only one not trying to take over the world. Alexander the great, world domination. Romans, world domination. European nations during the crusades, world domination or at least middle east domination. Spain, domination of the new world. Britian, world domination or at least colinization. Hitler, world domination."

The problem is not world takeover, but how America intervenes. Intervention in Israel has only fed the fire of hate and destruction.

That's nice DBZM. He verified that the US is included in the group of world powers.

The US was in the Cold War to stop the USSR from gaining influence by trying to counter with its own influence. It became a battle of who could gain power in the most countries. Vietnam, Korea, Afganistan, the Middle East, countless countries in Africa, even more in South America, and the scarred countries in Europe were all victims of this "race." It was about influence, which, as UG said, is a way to gain idealogical rule over the world.

As I just said:
Global domination doesn't have to be as it is portrayed in the videogames, folks.

No...

...We feed the hungry of the world. We provide medicine. We even give money, even to chowderhead nations with stupid backwards ideas about Socialism that end up wasting that money.

We even try to help nations under brutal regimes, knowing full well that the brutal leaders will take most of it. Just for the sake of helping a few.

We beat Nazi Germany in WWII (with the aid of some really great allies... and one really sucky one). Then toppled Imperialist Japan. And we helped rebuild those countries.

We gave money to guerrillas in South America to overthrow Communist regimes.

We toppled the Taliban for the world. We enforced UN penalties against another brutal dictator.

And our human rights record is right on par with any other great nation's.

We aren't perfect. We're not saints, no. We sometimes get in bed with the bad guys. Usually to take out other bad guys, or sometimes to secretly help import capitalizm into their countries so people can actually get rich.

Terrible Americans have led America to do some terrible things in the past, yes. But they are not America itself.

If you don't think America is the world's good guys, then you don't believe in real-world right and wrong.

Bolt, you gave a bad arguement, here's a good one.

Your teacher's logic is flawed simply based on the evolution of foreign politics in the last 50 years. After the Second World War (perhaps even the first), the game was completely changed. It was no longer about territorial boundaries. It was influence and trade, not guns and ammo that provided power (although guns and ammo still remained a major force). The Cold War was a different kind of war. If the world were the same world as it were in the ancient times, or even in the late 1800s and early 1900s, we would have come to shots simply because of the massive buildups (excellent analysis is in the book The Guns of August). Yet, we didn't fire directly (though we technically did engage with Chinese forces in Korea and Soviet forces in Nam, and CIA operatives clashed in Afghanastan). The world changed. It was about moving your carrier fleet into the sea to pressure a slightly hostile country into doing what we want. It was holding Most Favored Nation trade status as the gold ring on the economic carusel. It was using the UN, NATO, the WTO, and other international groups to get points across. It was and still is economics. The US does dominate the world economically and politically due to various methods of influence. You can kid yourself and say we aren't, but you're lying. The world changed...get with it.

Because there is no real world right and wrong.

"Good guys" is such a cliche. Anyone who uses it has no credibility.
