Say what you want about FF8...

...but dammit, that game had the coolest intro movie and song ever.

Just wanted to post that. No other point to the thread.-jay

(Oh, and again, FF8 was definitely Uematsu at his best. But that's another topic.)

Yeah, that was cool. Out of the games I've played, the best.

So do you mean Liberi Fatali or Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinsosec? Either way, yeah, awesome, but the whole "spaced out intro involving random clips of crap you won't understand for ten or twenty hours" left a bad taste in my mouth.

Terra's Theme and the opening for FF6 are still better, of course.

Liberi Fatali of course... With the Squall/Seifer gunblade fight. Come on. That was simply breathtaking.

The FF6 opening was good...but it doesn't even come close to FF8. The opening theme/Terra's theme for FF6 is definitely good (the orchestrated version is even better), and the whole magitech thing was cool, but the introduction with the magitechs walking through the snow was just boring.

Liberi Fatali + Gunblade Fight = Awesome.

Jay, I have new found respect for you.

I loved the openning for FFVIII. I even have Liberi Fatali on my Ipod. I wish FFVIII disc would work on my PS3, so I could watch it.

Someone can make Jay an Admin again, now that I know this.

Actually ,Terra's theme is one of the songs (alongside Kefka's and a few others) that I felt did better before its orchestral arrangement. And the march on Narshe wasn't boring, it was just different - meant to build up a sense of impending adventure and circumstance, much like the song itself.

You're only remembering part of the FF8 intro. Yeah, the gunblade fight was pretty cool, but how about that part with the ocean? Yeah, it's a nice ocean, but it's still an ocean. Or Rinoa standing in a field of flowers? Or the whole thing with Edea and her hair? Or all that crap you won't understand for a third of the game? Or that didn't fit in with Liberi Fatali at all?

Yeah, Kefka's orchestrated version sucked. But I really liked the orchestrated version of Terra's theme (the one on Grand Finale). I love the bells...and the strings...and the horns...

Come on...the march on Narshe was exactly that...4 frames of the mechs marching onto Narshe in a loop. One friggen animation. Boring.

And the other stuff in the FF8 didn't matter. They obviously didn't leave a negative impact on me, since all I remember now is how great the intro was. It doesn't take away from the awesomeness that is the gunblade fight.

Besides, any intro with gunblade fight is automatically better than any intro without gunblade fight.

I knew a guy who doesn't like RPGs or FF games at all, but after seeing the intro to FF8, went out and bought it on the spot.

Well, European PS3 doesn't work anyway. They took out a part or something like that. Probably a topic in there about it.*points to Playstation forum*

Libiri Fatali sucks except for the Squall/Seifer duel, which kicks ass. But the song sucks and so does the name "Libiri Fatali." -CSM
