At least the card game in VIII was a little enjoyable. IX Tetra Whatever was an unplayable mess. :p

Only thing about the card game in FFIX was that is was so mind-blowingly simplistic. The amount of strategy one could have was limited, which made it easier to play but really shallow. FFVIII's card system was much more robust.

What I really didn't like in IX was that they made part of the card game "secret", so you'd have to figure out what some of the card's attributes did based on trial-and-error (or looking it up on GameFAQs). In VIII after a few minutes I understood all of the rules and set out to rob everyone of their cards instead of saving Rinoa or whatever I was supposed to do.

True enough, but at least in FFIX you couldn't get those horrific, terrifying rules changes that would make you lose your Zell card to Cid without realizing you were even at that kind of risk, OH DAMN YOU CID WHAT DID YOU DO

The FFIX card game is hell of a lot more fun only because of the random factor. Triple Triad sucked. -CSM

^^ I don't know about you, but when I play chess, I like it that when a knight captures a pawn, it does it with 100% accuracy.

Yeah, but it's less fun because it's just use "Squall Seifer in the opposite corners I win!" -CSM

No, it's not.

Never forget the rules, man, and combos are your worst nightmares.

Well, I don't play IX's card game because it's obtuse and there is no reason or reward for anything.

I find it fun to beat the **** out of Alleyway Jack (Gilgamesh) and win all of his airships. He really sucks, at least for the "card expert" he's made out to be in the beginning of the game.

So, did anyone here even do the Ancient Man of Mystery Hunt in FFXII?
Spoiler.
The arrangement for Clash on the Big Bridge rules. And they captured Gilgamesh...perfectly? That's the word.

I would have, but FF12 sucks.

I've moved on to Xenosaga 3. Now that's an RPG with character. And an actual story.-jay
