So....

Spoiler.

Dr. Cid = Balthier's daddy! WOMG! I knew that Cid was cool! And the guy is like, totally psycho, too!

Yeah, you know, I *just* got to that part.

The whole thing is really crazy, though, and I really don't know what's going on. The Cid in this game seems rather crazy or something.-jay

I haven't been able to play since it's been stuck in my PS2 which is back at school. I'm playing Zelda now. -CSM

^A perfectly acceptable alternative.

^^
Spoiler.
Although I haven't gotten much farther, I'm assuming that Cid is psycho because of the nethecite or something like that. Which also explains why Balthier is so untrusting of it...

Eh, unlike lameo of Star Wars infamy, this 'Balthier' has that sort of cold look in his eyes which the guy in Star Wars could never perfect. Really, if he was going to become Vader, he should have become desensitized, instead of oversensitized.

As for FF7, I believe it is a 'classic' game. That is, it started a ton of things and revolutionized some others, but in itself, the works it inspired began outdoing it a very long time ago. It's crippled by the Mako Gimmick (Come ON, people hate one another for more reasons than greed), as well as the 'I am the amazing angsty guy with a sword' (I could buy a sword just like Cloud's, in fact I could then attempt to join the army, but I definately would not gain super powers from pretending to be somebody else.)

Unfortunately, Square must have gone insane, as they can't seem to stop milking it for all its worth, and then some. It just isn't so great as to deserve the books, the movie, and all eight thousand games. I've looked at most of them, they don't have the same feel, neither do they attempt to be very deep.

As for FFXII's sequel? I'm still trapped in 1997. Maybe some day I'll play it. I can agree with Jay's way with RPGs; the real way is to beat the game by overpowering one or two characters like nuts, moving through it as fast as possible, and ignoring the weapons that take the challenge out of it.

It may have taken 5 hours to beat Sephiroth, but that was one of the most epic battles I've had with a video game. (Second place: Trying to destroy Sonic 2's final boss mecha. That thing WOULD NOT STOP TAKING HITS.)
Super Smash Quest: Fighting evil since 2002.

^Trapped in 1997? It's 1991-1996 where you need to be trapped. Join us now and win an autographed picture of Cecil. -CSM
