Name: Brandon
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Region: Johto
Starting Pokemon: Houndour
Bio: Brandon grew up around pokemon every since he could remember. He' s a very brave kid, and never runs away from situations. His ego, however, sometimes gets the best of him.

Pokemon:

Houndour LV5
HP: 20/20
Moveset:
Leer (30/30)
Ember (25/25)
Ability: Flash Fire: Prevents Houndour from being attacked by FIRE type moves, also increases the power of FIRE type moves.

Brandon had always been a very brave kid for his age, growing up near and with Pokemon ever since his family moved to the Johto region, near the well-known Pokemon researcher, Prof. Elm. Brandon would, near every day, go over to help Prof. Elm with whatever little things he could, whether it be something as fun as playing with Cyndaquils, Totodiles, and Chikoritas held by Prof. Elm at a different time or another for trainers who would be starting out on their own journeys, to just helping clean up the area, clearing the counters and making sure the floors were kept clean.

With all Brandon did for Prof. Elm, it was of little surprise to anyone, except Brandon himself, when Elm and his Mother had planned a very special present for his birthday.

"A-a Pokemon? For me?" Brandon asked, not quite sure he believed what he was hearing. Since his father was never at home, it was always thought Brandon should stay behind and care for his Mother, so he never thought he would be getting this opportunity."

"Brandon, things are always fine at home, and I can see how unhappy you always are . . . you were meant to be like your father, training Pokemon . . ." his Mother said, a little sad.

"And because I know a few people in the Kanto region, i was able to get a special Pokemon for you . . ." Prof. Elm said, smirking as the Pokemon suddenly jiggled, and become aglow with red energy, before spilling out a strange . . . puppy shaped Pokemon, skin as black as night with a little orange muzzle, a slightly fiendish look on his face.

"IIIIEEE!" Brandon's mother cried with a slight bit of shock, "that's the Pokemon you got for my son?! It looks possitively dreadful!"

Houndour scowled a little at the insult, before it began to do what it did best, ignoring anyone around him, licking at his own right paw.

Brandon got his very own Pokemon! Although it doesn't seem too thrilled with the idea of being owned, Houndour will undoubtedly be a great start to your own Pokemon adventure! You can stay in Prof. Elm's lab and speak to either Prof. Elm, your Mother, or one of Prof, Elm's assistants. Outside, there is your own home, and two houses belonging to your neighbors. Other then that, the only other option is to go West, to Route 29.

Thinking that it might be best to leave with a few pokeballs, Brandon decides to ask professor Elm if he has any he could use.

Prof. Elm blinked, and nodded as he realized that he had forgotten to get the poor lad any Pokeballs, a little embarrassed with the situation, he scratched lightly at the back of his head, "how silly of me, in all my excitement with getting you're Pokemon, and your present, I forget to get any extra Pokeballs . . . my assistant may have a few though, if you wish to ask him," Prof. Elm said sheepishly.

". . . my present, you mean Houndour isn't my present?" Brandon said confused.

Houndour looked up as it knew it was being talked about, then went back to its job of ignoring them soundly. Prof. Elm smiled wide and nodded, bringing forward a small wrapped parcel. "Prof. Oak came around just a few days ago with this . . . but I have no need for it. I would be better in the hands of a Pokemon Trainer anyway . . ."

Brandon blinked himself, as he tore away the paper, gasping as what was revealed, it was the latest version of the PokeDex!

Brandon recieved a PokeDex! Now when you capture Pokemon, your Pokedex can automatically keep records of them! This is a very cool present, indeed!

"Pokeballs?" the assisstant looks a bit weird as well, then rummages behind him, grumbling about the mess that the lab always seems to be in . . . at least his station. "Well if Prof. Elm said to give you Pokeballs . . . but I am afraid I only have a few . . . but if the Prof. wants you to have them, they are yours."

Brandon recieved 5 Pokeballs!

Recap: You can stay in Prof. Elm's lab and speak to either Prof. Elm, your Mother, or one of Prof, Elm's assistants. Outside, there is your own home, and two houses belonging to your neighbors. Other then that, the only other option is to go West, to Route 29.

Brandon goes outside of the lab glad he's finally out on his own. Eager to start his pokemon journey, he doesn't even look at the houses nearby that he grew up near, he excitedly walks west towards Route 29.

Brandon walked out of the small town onto Route 29, a route that stretched far West, too far to see any of the next town over, although Brandon knew it was there. To get there, however, he would need to walk across several patches of tall grass.

Walking through the first patch of grass, although seeing quite a few movements, nothing actually paid too much mind to him, Houndour included, as it lazed off slightly in tow, still looking rather indifferent to its surroundings. Brandon walked free from the first patch of grass and looked around, a little relieved but at the same time, a little dissapointed.

Brandon can either continue forward, to the next patches of tall grass, simply try to walk the entire length and hope to avoid battles, or even abcktrack and purposely walk into the tall grass until challenged.

Thinking he wants to reach his destination as fast as he can, and doesnt want to avoid or run from any battles, Brandon pushes onward.

Brandon walks through the tall, bushy grass, when a movement suddenly makes him stumble, it was too close! The grass convulsed again, and now even Houndour let out a growl, before the grass seemed to open up and part, a wild Pidgey chirping loudly, angry that it was disturbed!

Houndour LV5 VS Pidgey LV 3 (HP: 15/15)

Houndour, already drawn back and barking, has a slight speed advantage over Pidgey, giving it first strike.

The Houndour growled as it pulls back its head, suddenly jerking his mouth open as a barrage of flying embers fly into the air, hitting the Pidgey hard and singing its feathers, smoldering as it takes 6 points of damage! (HP: 9/15)

Pidgey shivers and squawks as it suddenly races forward and smashes itself against the Houndour, hitting it only lightly for 3 points of damage. (HP: 17/20)

Houndour snarled again, pulling back his head to send another wave of flying embers at its opponent, Pidgey taking 6 points of damage! (HP: 3/15)

Flapping off the ash caught in its wings, the Pidgey lauched forward and smashed against the Houndour again, still only doing a light 3 damage. (HP: 14/20)

Brandon saw this as a great oppurtunity to increase the size of his party.

"Here we go, Pokeball Go!" Brandon said as he aimed and threw the pokeball at Pidgey with all his might..

Brandon threw the Pokeball, its sphere shape opening wide, seeming to swallow the Pidgey whole! But would it work?

. . . wobble . . .

. . . wobble . . .

. . . Pidgey was captured!

Pidgey LV3
HP: 3/15
Moveset:
Tackle (33/35)
Ability: Keen Eye: Pidgey's Accuracy cannot be lowered by the opponent.

With Pidgey safely captured, brandon pressed onward over the pathway, walking bravely into the tall grass . . . the first patch, the second . . . and the last . . . though surprisingly nothing paid him any mind at all, as he walked right out of Route 29 and into Cherrygrove City!

The Pokemon Center might be a good bet to start, but there's also the PokeMart, and a small house in the conrer, with a rather friendly old man standing there. Near the water front to the southwest there was a fisherman, grumbling about something, and stamping his foot down. Other then that, the only other options is to head north onto Route 30, or back East to route 29.

Thinking it would be wise to heal his houndour and new acquired pidgey, Brandon starts walking towards the pokemon center.

. . .

"Thank you so much for using the Pokemon Center! Have a nice day!" the over cheery nurse told him as she handed him back his two PokeBalls. As Brandon took them he looked around the Center, there were a few people standing around. A young man and a young woman, only teenagers, talking to one another, while in another corner there was a young girl holding a Gameboy Advanced.

Curiosity got the best of him, and Brandon decided to go over and see what the teenagers were talking about in the corner.

Brandon nears the two teenagers talking, and lucky for him, they keep talking without noticing him listening in.

"Did you hear about the tower in Ecruteak City?" the young boy asked the girl.

"No, what?"

"It seems there's a shrine that was once a perch for a 'legendary' Pokemon! Wouldn't it be a trip if it ever came back?!" the boy asked excitedly.

"Oh please," the girl said, waving her hand, "everyone knows that tower burned down years ago! Even if there was a shrine, it would of been defiled by now . . ." the girl suddenly turned, noticing Brandon, "its rude to listen in on other people's conversations!!!" she screeched at him.
