^Say, Cap, what's your thoughts on the current state of the original SW flicks? Like, there's arguments to be made both for and against the SE stuff (well, maybe not for the SE, but not deadset against it).

Ups & downs.
Ep 4: I like the Jabba scene. I hate Greedo shooting first. Adding in all the CGI aliens in Mos Eisley was pointless.
Ep 5: Replacing the chimp with Ian McDiarmid was a good thing. Having him explain the plot to Vader was a bad thing.
Ep 6: The new song at Jabba's palace is terrible. The extended celebration at the end isn't good either.

78) The 4:30 Movie - A-. One of Kevin Smith's best.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

...speaking for myself, I don't want any of the SE stuff in there. I object to it as a purist; also, I think there's a moral argument to made against an artist being allowed to tamper with a work after he's released it. (Imagine if Shakespeare's vengeful spectre rose from the grave and started futzing around with 'Hamlet'. He put a jetski chase in the final act or something, and he somehow had the ability to limit access to all non-jetski versions of 'Hamlet'. I think people would have a problem with that. I think people would be like, "please don't do this, mister shakespeare---------you're an insane out-of-touch monster from beyond the veil, you might not be thinking clearly".)

(EDIT: Of course, when it comes right down to it, if I'm out in Dakota and the kids want to watch one of the original SW flicks on Disney+, I'm not going to run shrieking from the room just because it's the SE. Like, I've got the real versions on DVD, and also memorised---------I'm not losing anything by watching a 'merely' 99% authentic iteration of ANH.)

I rewatched The Matrix for some reason. It's still great but I've watched it a million times.

I'm a purist to some degree too, but I'm not sure about a moral argument against creators modifying their works post-release, to me it depends on the nature of the changes. Could just be video games that are the exception due to their nature, but they usually benefit from patches, updates, and revisions, generally speaking. Like, what are your thoughts on the whole Pokemon style 3rd game thing they used to do (Red/Blue, then an enhanced Yellow, for example)?

Modifying the day-one iteration of a video game to make it functional isn't what I'm talking about, any more than is issuing a recall for a model of car that's prone to having the wheels fall off at highway speeds. I'm talking about taking a piece of media long years after its release and changing things in it under the guise of repairing what was never broken.

'Pokemon Yellow' wasn't intended to replace 'Red/Blue'; back when the GB/C was still the thing, 'Yellow' sat next to 'Red' and 'Blue' on store shelves. This isn't the same situation----------once the SE came out, there was no longer an opportunity to buy the non-SE versions of the original films through official channels. To say nothing of the digital releases and streaming.

'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice'-------kind of messy, but mostly enjoyable. I could really have done with the 'MacArthur Park' sequence being like a quarter as long, or snipped out entirely.
'Scream 2'-------watched the first one with Riv and Maxy, and then we all saw the second one for the first time together. They're alright movies, but you know, they aren't scary. We mostly laughed at them. Lost track of how many times the killer just tripped over furniture like a goober (Riv raised the possibility that maybe they couldn't see very well through the Ghostface mask).
'Venom: Let There Be Carnage'-------...I don't especially care how faithful or unfaithful these flicks are to the comics, I think they're alright.

Everything else we watched was stuff I'd seen before. Put on 'Chicken Run' for Maxy and the little girls, and it really drew them in---------Em-Bear made me promise to come visit at Eastertime and watch the sequel with them.

^IMO, the thing that most needed to be cut was Dolores. She doesn't interact with ANY main characters until the last 15 minutes, & she's the only plot thread in the film that's completely unrelated to Charles's death.

87) Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan & Sara - B-. Weirdly paced, & just kinda abruptly stops, but the subject matter is so important to anyone involved in online fandom that it should be watched anyway.
88) Hocus Pocus - B+
89) Goosebumps - B+
90) Jersey Girl - A-

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^Ahahaa. I completely forgot Dolores existed until this moment. Messy, messy, messy. 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' needed a couple more rewrites, maybe. Still a good time overall, though (Willem Dafoe's character near killed me laughing).

...man, I feel like I watched more movies than that this past week, but I guess the rest of them must have all been old hat.

There's a Goosebumps movie? I'm surprised I didn't know, I used to watch the show and read the books a lot.

^Yeah. It's alright. Good kiddie spooky biz. Might not be your particular cup of tea (it stars Jack Black), but, heck, my sister's kids liked it.

Jack Black's an amazing Bowser, but I really don't think he's good in anything else aside from Mario Movie. I expected him to be grating as Bowser but he might've been the highlight of the film.

12) I thought 10 Cloverfield Lane was pretty good. John Goodman was brilliant, and it's some skillful storytelling in that it continually reveals more and more of what's going on without relieving the tension.
