A rumour suggests that RE9 may be shown at State of Play tonight, or at least being formally revealed relatively soon. Possibly at TGS in a few more days, or perhaps as a part of whatever Capcom has lined up for their next coverage in October.
A guy in Brazil said on Reddit that he believes RE9 will be teased at the showcase.
Somehow, the biggest leaker of them all ("Dusk Golem") isn't so sure that Capcom will reveal RE9 at State of Play.

The game may star Chris, Jill and Leon. It is said that multiple legacy characters will be involved. And the focus will be on survival horror, with a female antagonist who can turn into a large dog type form, in order to hunt the heroes.

Re: Resident Evil 9
I think a brief TGS reveal is likely. It'll get more attention there now since Ubisoft cancelled their Assassin's Creed: Shadows presentation (LOL) if they do, there's usually not a lot of AAA games there anymore so Resident Evil 9 would be the talk of the event.
As a Resident Evil 3 fan I don't hate the idea of being hunted by a villain, but they're really overdoing it if that's true. I'd kill for a reboot at this point.

Re: Resident Evil 9
Yeah. RE8 was a cut and paste job of RE4, and since Jack Baker was in 7, every game has had a stalker boss with terrible AI under the RE Engine.
I also feel that it is too big of a franchise now to be scary like it used to be. This can vary, I guess. The problem seems to be that the main characters are too equipped for 'survival horror' gaming today, while if you had a normal guy just going into Silent Hill, Raccoon City or some other similar place, the experience would be the polar opposite. But Chris and company are too beefed up, making the games feel more corny than terrifying. There is also a lack of music, as it's always too quiet.
This is why Leon has changed so much since RE2, and is a goody two shoes, John Cena (from WWE) sort. He's in all the animated movies, and is a big reason as to why horror games went downhill.
RE4 is also very odd in general. Buying guns from a stall just feels like cheating. How does that merchant cope anyway? LOL. He does not even have a truck to move his shop everywhere.

Re: Resident Evil 9
Totally agree, it feels like they've moved so far from the original horror. Chris and Leon are basically superheroes at this point! And yeah, that merchant... seriously, how does he keep up? Maybe he’s got teleportation powers we don’t know about!Grace in the Dark wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:14 amYeah. Re: Resident Evil 9
Kinda random, but the thing I didn't like about the merchant is the enemies wouldn't attack him. If there was a lore reason to wave it away it'd be fine, but it stood out too much.derony88 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 8:15 amTotally agree, it feels like they've moved so far from the original horror. Re: Resident Evil 9
I thought RE4 was a good game, but absolutely fake as a RE game. Unfortunately, there was no going back once shooters rose in popularity, and now Capcom and Steam are just releasing all of these boring walking simulators where you hide or run away from the monsters, or the person following you. Or yes, you proceed from point A to B, shooting up every deformed thing you come across for the loot. Because that's apparently the definition of scary.
I blame P.T., really.
By the way, I watch a lot of horror movies, and the recent decades have had some fantastic resurgences. However, there's a lot of mundane, gory, over the top garbage to sift through as well. Been there. Done it. Bought the blood soaked shirt to frame on my bedroom wall.
Usually, I recommend fans to look up 'best of' lists. Total Film. Empire. IGN. Variety.
Whoever. You know? People with a keen eye for creativity. Then no matter the time period it's from, the films will be worth a viewing. Why knock something because it's old?
If RE7 to 9 are supposed to complete a trilogy, 9 may be in first person. Not really a fan of the perspective, but I'm not opposed to it either. Or maybe just have the option to play it in both modes. They could even have third person unlockable.
As for the storylines in RE...
The villains are getting worse. That person with the living puppet thing in RE8 was dumb. The robot man was just as daft. And the vampire mistress was the subject of tons of memes. But to be honest, I thought RE8 was just way too similar to RE4. You basically just visit the same sort of locations, like a castle. People even initially assumed it was so Capcom could recycle assets for the RE4 remake.
I think the idea that a virus slows down a character's age is just a tactic to keep milking the franchise. They know that nobody will be all that interested in new characters, so they have found a way to have the legacy ones grow old super slowly.
Sneaky, sneaky Capcom. Leon may have shot at cows in RE4. But Capcom would never eliminate their very own cash cow.
Regards, from Grace, AKA thesaunderschild.
