That's interesting, corporate power struggles are always fun to read about. Sega had a lot of that, not at the top level but between talent and the JP/US branches, it definitely contributed to Sega's fall from the console market.
As for Disney, someone new really needs to take the reins and return Disney to their family-friendly roots, and handle their IPs with some reverence for the source material rather than open disdain in some cases. My thoughts on Bob are the same as Elon's.

Elon's thoughts on Iger are "how dare you not give me money!" If your thoughts are the same, that's really weird.

You're misremembering. As I recall, Elon made it crystal clear he didn't need his money, then opined about Iger giving his money to Zuckerberg instead despite his platforms being unchecked dens of iniquity.
Anyway, it wasn't really fair of me to insinuate Disney's issues are all on Iger, it ain't like he's the only problem. Kathleen Kennedy, Latoya Raveneau, and plenty of others should be fired too, because back to Musk again, he proved to fix a company you really need to purge a lot of the old guard. I hate to drag classic Sega through the mud again, but it'd be like blaming its Dreamcast era woes solely on Bernie Stolar (RIP), big companies usually don't work like that.

I distinctly remember that it was about pulling ads. It wasn't just Disney, either. A bunch of companies didn't want to be associated with Elon specifically, for reasons we're not allowed to discuss here, & he blew a gasket that they were exercising their freedom to walk away from him.
From a purely technical standpoint, Twitter works significantly worse now than it did before the takeover; he didn't prove jack.

I don't know why you're bringing up a specific element of conversation you say we can't discuss, and then just talking around it, but okay. Yes, it was about pulling ads, but that Elon didn't need them, telling Iger specifically to screw off in less polite words.
Elon has also pointed out that that same "freedom to walk away" from association wasn't exercised against Zuckerberg, despite him being in hot water for enabling a certain type of material on his platforms, which let's just say is not the same type of child-focused content Bob's supposed to have Disney associated with. Maybe if he walked away from both Musk & Zuckerberg he'd be a little more consistent, but he didn't.
You can defend Bob all you want, but Disney is better off without him, and I think that as soon as he's gone there will at least be a chance of a return to Walt Disney's original goals and values. Walt Disney said "Movies can and do have tremendous influence in shaping young lives in the realm of entertainment towards the ideals and objectives of normal adulthood". Bob Iger must've looked at that quote and set out to do the opposite.
As for Twitter from a technical standpoint, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It runs slower? The app is bigger? The only real technical difference I've noticed is some cool new features like Community Notes, which drastically impairs the ability of disinformation to spread unchecked. That should be implemented by default on all social media imo, rather than solely relying on biased moderation and "fact"-checkers.

Community Notes already existed preElon, but you didn't have to pay for a bluecheck to submit a report for one. Also, it literally *is* fact-checking.
Crashes, glitches, et cet, are all way up.

Are you sure about that? If it already existed before Elon then I stand corrected. By mentioning fact-checking separately from Community Notes I meant to distinguish it from the likes of Snopes and such.
I haven't noticed any crashes or glitches, but I admittedly never used it too much. In terms of user experience the main difference people seem to cite is the alleged relaxation on speech restrictions, but as I'm currently banned for innocuous comments I think that's exaggerated lol

Actually, I’ve rarely experienced it myself, but I’m not a very active Twitter user. As always, some people face no problems at all, while others deal with constant glitches. I’ve seen claims about a free speech revival on the platform, but it mostly feels like the same old rules with a few changes. I guess that ban proves it’s not the Wild West just yet.

Yeah, Twitter is definitely not a true free speech platform, unfortunately. The only one that is which was also popular is Parler, before it was knee capped by big tech monopolies. Gab is free speech too, but it's never been popular to my knowledge (but maybe it could've been if it too wasn't similarly stifled), neither one is really worth using much because they're kinda just echo chambers now.derony88 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 11:44 amActually, I’ve rarely experienced it myself, but I’m not a very active Twitter user.
