Nintendo has been expected to break its silence when it comes to the successor to the Nintendo Switch for some time now. And for all that time, we’ve had, uh, more silence.

All that we’ve really had to go on is a rumour or two that keeps fans going, with some claims pointing towards magnetic Joy-Cons and a dev kit that’s already out in the wild, but beyond that, we’re left totally in the dark, which grows more concerning by the moment as the new means of playing Nintendo games is expected to arrive early next year.

But now it looks like the silence is about to be broken - even if we don’t hear much about it.

It turns out that investors may be the first to receive new details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, as new reports claim that the new home console from Nintendo will be discussed for the first time.

Thanks to Twitter user the_marmolade, it has been reported that in a new IR Information page on the Nintendo JP website, the company is gearing up to speak to investors about their upcoming console in a call tomorrow.

Seems like Nintendo will talk about their next console at tomorrows investor call.

The data held on the site, as shared by Twitter user Knoebelbroet, reveals that “Topics covered include financial results overview and business outlook, business momentum of Nintendo Switch, the next game console and business impact of a hardware transition, IP strategy including the visual content business, capital policy, ESG, and sustainability initiatives.”

It could mean that the console is entirely revealed, or merely alluded to as “our new upcoming console,” but either way, it seems that Nintendo is ready to discuss their next steps into hardware, and even though the public isn’t in mind with this reveal, they must be at least a little prepared for an announcement soon.

If we’re lucky, we’ll get to see a public reveal for the console at some point soon to counteract potential leaks, but it all remains to be seen, and we may be waiting longer still for a reveal. We’re just going to have to hold out hope.

It's also worth remembering that Nintendo is already skipping Gamescom this year, but some sources suggest whatever is next for the company may have been revealed at the event last year.
I don't expect much aside from basically reaffirming that Switch 2 is coming (doubtful they'll reveal the official name), and probably specifying a year (confirming 2025 most likely, as per rumors). I think the fact Nintendo is skipping Gamescom pretty much confirms a 2025 release date, though I'm starting to suspect a late 2025 release rather than a March one like with Switch.

As an aside, it's gross to see even Nintendo dabbling in ESG, as this article reminds me they're doing. It hasn't seemed to effect many of their games' development (yet) though at least. Speaking of games developed (or not in this case), this probably doesn't deserve its own topic, but apparently a Donkey Kong game was revealed to be cancelled recently. I hope there's still something coming, but not from a new western development studio (Retro or Nintendo themselves would be better):

I don't get the point. Sales still seem rather strong.
To me, you are the teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoon.
