Test Anxiety
What level of anxiety do you experienced when having to take a test?
Is there any kind of test that creates more anxiety than others?

Re: Test Anxiety
...I always hated essay tests. 'Write several paragraphs about this history crap you aren't remotely interested in.' 'Write about this garbagey book that's supposedly a literary classic and that you hate like poison.' 'Write a whole bunch of whatever in Latin. Just do it, and shut up.' Gag. Give me all the calculus and stoichiometry instead. I'd prefer even an oral examination or lab practical.

Re: Test Anxiety
The tighter the time limit, the more anxiety there is. Timed tests are educationally invalid anyway.

Re: Test Anxiety
I never really got test anxiety. Tests always felt kinda like playing a game or solving a puzzle and I was good at those. I guess I was never much good at timed writing. I'd spend a lot of time thinking of how to precisely express a thought and end up with not a large volume of writing.
It's the open ended schoolwork that gave me anxiety, though. Where the first thing you had to do was choose the topic to cover, and I would worry I'd end up hating what I picked halfway through and waste a bunch of effort and not know what to do instead or how to make it interesting.

Re: Test Anxiety
None, because I'm a professor now and love giving tests. (I get so much work done during them.)
Aren't most people on here pushing 40 though?

Some are in their early or mid-30's like me, but yeah I'd imagine most are in their late 30's or even early 40's.

Yes. I'm a poor old man. My eyes are dim, I cannot see, my back is bent, my legs are grey, my ears are grizzled, my nose is knackered.
