First of all, there are two ways to "use the internet to do a search". When you think in search you need to think simple as possible. Like grandma from 1995 on the internet simple, not guy who was the little kid back then using the internet, who is now old enough to have grand children using the internet.

1. Via a browser.

A. Startpage ? It basically does a google ( piggy-back ) off google, without the tracking and information collection. However you need to make it is setup.

About google ? You use a google device with google running in the background, you are using google whether you like it or not. If you ever logged into any google products ( or owned products like youtube ) you are using google. Even google-voice is also being moderated. Remember google works with law enforcement ( there are articles with google staff and police standing side by side. ).

B. Do not use Google, use Duckduckgo ( DDG ) while it's own search also piggy-back via Yahoo servers ( since nobody really uses that anymore unless your in Japan ( which has preserved Yahoo for what it should be ). DDG allows privacy. In fact it has it's own browser with many options.

C. Browsers and safe searching. Remember once using a Chrome browser you are in the world of Google. However the limit would probably be a browser like Brave, with shields up. A better Browser ( in my opinion ) is "Basilisk" and "PaleMoon" with "Fire-Fox add-ons"

D. Mypal - is a great up to date browser for Windows XP 32-bit that functions decently. From there you could use whatever search you want to use.

E. Onion browser .Tor - is for people who want privacy.

F. Just do not log in to google. Remember any device that goes through Google-wall is logged into google, and anything you do through that wall is taking notes.

This device + gateway + Trianglate + services + user-information.

Example:
My tablet + My college Wifi + Every other Wifi + etc + any information that could be collected true or false.

...

Google ( many other websites as with Yahoo We becons, Linked-in, and even facebook ( instagram ) is making a case against you.

..

2. Via command-line.

About command-line searching. It is a far simpler and better option. However you might need command-line tools if not built into the operating system as well the correct syntax. Some the
definition mentioned would be used in command-line searching. A web-scraper for instance is a great example of command-line searching.

3. About key-words

We talk about "Scripture" ( text ) and just by thinking simplistic your able to search terms and from that more terms. It is like when I first started to use the internet.
