Worm farm

Have you ever had your own worm farm?
If not, does the thought of farming worms seem like something you'd try to do?

I can say I appreciate worms, and know how vital they are to our ecosystem. They're weird and interesting.

...on a basic, intrinsic level, I think they're gross and horrible, and yucky. I want to touch them even less than I want to touch horses---------at least with horses, you won't come away with your hand all sticky with slime. (Hey, there's a new fantasy idea---------slimy grossout horses covered in goop. Somebody get J.K.R.R.R. Rowling Martin on the horn-----------tell her I've got a new stupid concept for a wonderful disgusting animal that'll knock her block and socks off.)

Well I will admit I tried to raise Meal-worms for my pets. You need some spaced container that is plastic ( because if it is rugged they can climb out ), Then get oatmeal and lay it down. Usually your suppose to have the oatmeal separate from the mature beetles because the elders can eat the babies, usually via mesh allowing them to produce the babies. However so far I have seen no cannibalism. However in high numbers I have seen Beetles tear apart less mobile beetles and worms. Super-worms also could be produced this way depending on source. They are just meal-worms been man-made to grow big. The idea is to get the worm gut loaded with fruit, veggies, etc. So the animal will get those nutrients.

I thought about raising earthworms/night-crawlers because I wanted to try like that book called "How to Eat Fried Worms" by Thomas Rockwell.
I remember seeing the animation to this a couple of times. I mean why not? My only problem with this idea would be parasites, but people do eat those worms.

Again I said Earthworms knowing that those are whitish worms ( I forget the name classification. ).

Doing terrible job my traumatized co-worker said to me "You know when I was a kid they took us out to plant flowers but my small group did not plant flowers all we did was clean up the area so the other group could do the planting. I feel as if they knew we were going to be doing this in the future". However I soughta understood but he school probably did not have a custodian or maybe they decided to break up the work into pieces.

Again about raising worms for consumption. You can do this but the worms must be flawless in terms of the original source. Whatever you put into the worms diet will be the outcome. Also this.

The above is off putting but why not show the big grubs being raised in market places where people, remove the legs, and skin, dip fry, or eat alive? Why show this in 202X??? when something from 199X made more sense???

While I appreciate a worm just as much as the next guy. The thought of watering my garbage container filled with worms each morning does nothing to inspire me. Gonna go full worm for a week, I'll return when I learn more. The mud calls to me.

I don't mind worms, but I don't think I'd be interested enough to have a worm farm though. As for the notion of eating worms or other bugs, I'll consider it once the billionaires do.

At the very least, we've got worms to thank for Earthworm Jim. That's gotta count for something.
