I know poison ivy and poison oak by sight. Never touched it myself, but I've helped kids at camp who had it--------‐wash the affected area gently with soap and water to get the plant's oil off the skin, then apply cold compresses or a soothing ointment to alleviate any discomfort. Try not to scratch.

I know how to identify it (& treat it), & because of that, I've never touched it.
