The McRib is back.

In case you missed it, the McRib came back today.

I had 2 for lunch. I can finally cross "Eating a McRib" off my bucket list.

It's effectively just a pork burger with BBQ sauce.
The thing is, a BBQ pork burger is delicious, so people buy it.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I mean, I know what it is, I just haven't had one.

It's not bad, maybe I'd get one if I happen to go to McDonald's while they're selling them, but it is a novelty at the end of the day. I'm pretty sure there are other restaurants that offer similar things if you're really in the mood for something like that.

It's also proof that artificial scarcity is an effective business strategy.

I've never had a McRib, but on the subject of limited time menu items: Whataburger recently brought back the Hatch Green Chile Double and added bacon to it. I've had one nearly every week since they've done so.

Girl scout cookies lost a little of their 'limited time only!'-style mystique when I learned they're all made by Keebler, and that Keebler takes the best ones and sells them year-round under its own brand, anyway (Grasshoppers = Thin Mints, Caramel Delights = Samoas, etc).

The McRib is only available for a limited time.

Companies are usually pretty vague on exactly how long "a limited time" is. I'm thinking that's by design.

It's because they technically don't know. They send out a shipment of the thing to stores, & the stores sell it until they run out, however long that takes, without being able to resupply.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

That's why they often append limited time disclaimers with "while supplies last".

i vaguely remember A&W had a green chile thing going on that I was obsessed with at one point. I think it was because it was my first "spicy burger" miss that.

my mom made some homemade bbq pulled pork and we still have like two pounds of it left. if you want a better bbq sandwich i can put some loose pork in an envelope and mail it to you.

I can never, in good standing, order a McRib after someone I followed compared it to eating a sponge.
