How many times have you moved?

Just curious to see how many times you've had to move in your life.

I've only moved once, and it was only about a half-hour drive away from where I lived.

Not counting college, since I always lived on-campus: Twice. Once when I moved in with my wife, & then again when we bought a house.

If my math is correct, I've moved 10 times in the first 18 years of my life, though I've lived in one place since then.

Not counting campus housing, I moved from Michigan to Wisconsin full-time when I was 20, moved to a different house i Milwaukee when I was 24, and now moved back to Michigan three months ago.

once when i was a baby and too young to remember the house i lived in. i've lived in the same house since i was like 3 months old

Like the others, discounting campus housing, 5 times:

MI --> MN --> WI --> VA --> WI --> TN

First move wasn't until I was 21 years old, though. All 5 of those have been in the last 6 years.

I grew up in the same house most of my life. moved out. moved 2 times after that before settling in to where i am now.

Why did you move so much?

Buckle in.

Well, the first house I lived in was my great-grandma's in Bedford. Then after my mom married the first time, we moved into his house in Freetown, which I think I was about 4 or 5 at the time. We lived in a motel for a month or two before getting a new house, then eventually we moved again when I went to kindergarten to be closer to the school district.

THEN my mom got a divorce so we ended up moving back to Bedford in an apartment complex. At this point I would have been 6. She started dating, and eventually married, my now-stepfather, and we ended up moving closer to Austin (where he worked) in a trailer park about a year later. Another year after that, we found a small house in Deputy, which is where a lot of his family lived.

We lived there until I was about 12, but after my stepdad got a better job, we were able to move into a bigger house, still in Deputy. That's where we lived until I was 17, but we decided to move back to Bedford since at this point, a lot of the family we had in Deputy had either passed away or become alienated from us due to personal relationship stuff.

We lived with my grandma for about six months, and then after my great-grandma passed away, we inherited her house, which is where we live to this day.

This is reminiscent of my experience but I think I've moved a few more times when my family lost the house and I moved like six times in college

Well, when I woke up I moved from my bed to the shower, then from the shower to the kitchen, then from the kitchen to my desk, then later I moved to my workplace, where I had to move around quite a bit, and now I've just finished moving back home.

That's one day in my life, but you can probably extrapolate from that.

Lakeland, FL to Alexandria, VA
Then to another place in Alexandria.
Then to yet another place in Alexandria.
Then to Herndon, VA.
Then to another place in Herndon, VA.
Then to Minnesota for half a year.
Back to VA for a few years.
Then to New York.
Then to Anna Maria Island, FL.
Back to New York, where I've lived in two different places in the same town so far.

So somewhere about 10 times, not counting living in a place for less than a month or two.
