They both shake their heads.

"Should we head back then?" asks Sam.

Avoris: Yeah... sure. Can't think of anything else to do.

They nod, and the three of you begin the journey home. When you reach the crossroad to the village and the farmlands, about a half dozen men walk out of the woods, and two more on horseback. After a double take you realize them to be soldiers of Velazia.

One of the soldiers says "****, we ain't supposed to be seen."

One of the horsemen gives him a dirty look. "Well, no choice about it. We have to capture them."

What shall you do?

Avoris: I don't think so.

I'll tell Katie to shoot the guys on horseback, Sam to hold position and fight anyone off if they come, and I'll wait until somebody comes (preferably a horseman), then charge them with the lance.

Are you all running away?

Prince Toad · #26

What? No. I'll rephrase, then.

Sam will get in some bottleneck or just a position in the road, and hold. He'll attack anyone who comes within weapon's reach. Katie will get several feet behind him and start shooting at people, targeting the horsemen first. I myself will mount up (if I'm not already), take out my lance, and ready it. If a horseman advances I'll charge at him and attack.

The three of you get into your positions.

One of the horseman snickers. "The three of you expecting to defeat all of us?"

The others laugh loudly, until suddenly, an arrow is sticking into a footman's neck. You look back at Katie, who is already fitting another arrow.

The other horseman yells "KILL THEM ALL!" The horsemen kick their mounts to charge, and the footmen start running behind them, drawing various weapons (a couple swords, a spear, an axe and a bow)

One of the horsemen is charging at you. The other is charging at Sam and Katie.

What are you doing?

I'll charge the horsemen who's charging me. After that, I'll use all my momentum to run down the archer. If I can hit him with my lance, okay; otherwise I'll just trample him. If I get disarmed or something, I'll bring out my swords.

The two of you begin the charge at each other. How do you want to strike at him?

You can stab at a specific place or do a sideways sweep with your lance.

Dunno, I'll just stab at him somewhere. Doesn't really matter. His torso, I guess, if that's the easiest place to hit.

You stab at him as you pass. You manage to strike before him, hitting square in the torso knocking him off his mount, and driving his stab wild. Your momentum keeps you going through towards the archer, who gets a shot off, hitting Proud Bolt, causing him to rear, throwing you off of him. You take 4 damage from the fall. Directly in view, the archer is in the process of aiming another arrow at you, while one of the swordsman is approaching you, sword and med shield drawn. Proud Bolt bolts off into the woods, where the Velazians came out of.

Well ****. What are they doing?

I'll take out my swords and rush the archer. If anyone comes near, I'll just swing them around wildly to scare them off. If the archer shoots, I'll spin to the side and keep running at him.

Can't see what they're doing at the moment.

You rush the archer, but the swordsman steps in your way. He blocks your wild swings without a problem. The archer shoots, but you successfuly spin around it, catching a glimpse of Sam fighting the unhorsed horseman wielding a flail, as well the axeman. Katie is having trouble against the spearman, with no real weapon to defend, and not having time to shoot. Also, as you spin back to face the archer, you spot the second swordsman sneaking up on you. You spot light reflecting off metal and manage to bring your sword up instinctively to block a swordsman's blade, and then you manage to block an attack from the one sneaking up on you. Lastly, you see that the archer is manuevering to get a better shot on you.

I'll kick up some dust to cloud the archer's view, then move around so he's not sure where I am. I'll just parry the swordsmen while I'm doing this, attacking would probably be too much. Also, I'll try to sort of move in the direction of the archer, although not straight at him.

You try and kick up some dust as the archer aims. His shot misses badly as you walk backwards, his shot misses and strikes one of the swordsman in the stomache, dropping him to the ground. You parry the other swordmen's blow.

What to do with your extra sword?

Stab him in the face.

You stab at his face, he attempts to parry, but can't get it up in time. The blade goes in through his face, killing him rather quickly. You pull the blade back out. You realize that the archer is about to shoot you.

Try and gauge when he's releasing, then a little before he releases dive down behind the body of the guy I just killed. After that, if I'm okay, charge the archer and slash at him.
