Only two Drakes and their riders.
You cast explosion, aiming it to hit both drakes and their riders. The explosion blasts the Soldiers dead, and injures the drakes (although not crippled or anything) and infuriates them, the drakes shriek shrilly and begin flapping their wings furiously. Electricty seems to be generating from the flapping. Someone has the brilliant idea to yell "RUN!" and the crowd takes off around the drakes, you following. A few people cast offensive spells, to no effect, all seem to stop dead. Both drakes begin to ascend into the air. A few defensive shields appear around the group. The groups about halfway to the columns by now, when the drakes take off, making wide circles around the fleeing group.
CRACK! Thunder sounds, and a lightning bolt hits about 5 feet to your right.
CRACK! Another bolt hits in front of the group, forcing the group to a screeching halt.
CRACK! A bolt hits the left edge of the group, hitting a couple of recruits, who have just taken off running again.
At this point, the clouds overhead get darker, and you hear the sound of real thunder as opposed to what you can tell is magical thunder.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Three simaltaneous bolts hit around you, One is stopped by a shield that was previously cast, another hits off to the side and one hits just to your side, not dealing damage, but the force of it sends you sprawling to the ground. Cast anything or just take off again?
(You should probably spend a couple FP due to keeping up a long run, or its going to slow you down.

how much is a few?
You get up, casting dancing flames at half and run hard, trying to catch up.
The drakes circle to behind you all, and you can hear four simultaneous thunderbooms. Instinctively you look behind you to see each drake get hit by two lightning bolts, seemingly charging them full of electrical energy, the Drakes beginning an upward climb. You look back, nearly barreling into Taya, who has stopped.
Taya "I think they're going to divebomb the group. I can stop them. Keep going. You notice another person has stopped as well."
Want to assist or keep running.

The dragons enter a massive dive, electricity flowing all over their bodies. All three of you begin to cast your spells. You finish first, a sandstorm assulting their senses and throwing off their flight. Next comes Taya's Wind Wall. While they lost control from your sandstorm, they still have momentum, however this is completely shot by the wind wall, which throws them backwards, into the ground about 15feet away. The electrical buildup is released at this point in the form of a massive shockwave, the shockwave overcomes you. You feel a slight tingling sensation, but pass out.
---
You wake up, after an uncertain amount of time, to find yourself in a strange room, lying in a bed. Your body is sore all over, and you can barely move. You notice that the room you are in has three other beds with people in them, and a woman attending to one of them. She doesn't seem to notice you.
What do you want to do?

She jumps a bit, startled, and turns towards you.
"Don't move, you've been injured badly. Only about half the recruits from Camp Oasis survived. You were fortunate, someone saved you with magic when you tried to fight the Drakes. The two girls who stopped with you were killed."
She gets up, and walks over to a shelf, and pulls a flask off of it. She walks over to you, and hands it to you.
"Here, drink this. It should heal your injuries."
It's pure clean water, but with a somewhat minty taste. Very refreshing, and seconds after finishing it, you feel fine, as if you had never been injured.
"I was told that after you woke up, you were to report for duty immediately. Your actions in both the excercises you completed and the escape qualified you for any assignment you wished, and you were to report to Commanding Officer Ria's office. Go outside, and go right until you come to a staircase leading up, then go down the hallway and it'll be the second door on your left. Oh, and the Commanding Officer will tell you where to find your equipment. You should probably go, unless you have any other questions."
Do you?

You find her room with no problem. You knock on her door, and you hear "Come in"
You enter. Ria is sitting behind her desk, looking at some papers. She has blonde hair, tied back into a ponytail. Her eyes are forest green. She's wearing the standard brown robes, insignia showing her rank as a low level General. She also has a lot of ribbons and medals on her robe. She stands up, and greets you.
"Welcome Apprentice Enya. Your actions in Camp Oasis, and the results of what training could be completed have placed you above the rest of your peers from Oasis. You, and the deceased two who stood to try and fight the Drakes saved all of your lives that day, and all of you will be granted the Heaven's Shield medallion, showing your bravery in saving the lives of many of your comrades in arms.
Anyway, more importantly, is your new assignment. Although regular guard duty to anywhere in the country is available to you, or anyone really, I assume you will not want to take that.
The other options you have are Outland patrols, which sees a lot more action than normal guard duty, but is still essentially guard duty. The next option, is to join a raiding party. They break into Velazian military camps housed within our borders, or in the lands outside our boreder and attempt to either steal or destroy supplies, kill as many as possible or outright destroy the camps. That is a fairly stealthy operation, and is very dangerous.
Your final option is to join the underground resistance, made up of Zudan and Ronae's finest experienced soldiers and finest new recruits. We are in the process of incorporating Turril, and hopefully gaining some assistance from Badalla way over on Lunas, but that's unlikely. I do not know much, but I can tell you. They are attempting to Sabatoge Velazia from within, with some moderate successes as such far and eventaully planning an all out offensive, but that will be in the future. I can tell you no more about them.
These are all the assignments I can give you. You do not qualify to lead anyone yet, so anything you join, you will be serving under another. With the Heaven's shield medal, you are a candidate for early promotion wherever you go. So, what shall it be?
(Apprentice is the lowest rank of magic user in the military. It's above Private, which is the lowest rank of normal soldier in the military, and of course above recruit.)

"Excellent. You'll have to go to a different base for that. I think I shall assign you to Commanding Officer Terra's Raiding Party. She was looking for a good new recruit, and she'll be happy to have you. I'll have someone fetch your equipment. She reaches into a drawer, and takes out a pouch.
This has 500 gold coins in it. There's your first payment. Go to the teleporting room, and tell them to teleport you to these coordinates." She hands you a piece of paper, with the coordinates, and directions to the teleporting room, as well as a note explaining why you're there. You can buy equipment for yourself at their base.
"Dismissed."
You follow the directions to the teleporting room. It's a magic circle inscribed onto the ground, with four gems, placed at where North, East, South and West would be on a compass. A woman stands off to the side, with a wand in hand.
"Where are you going?"

"Keep calm, you may see strange things when teleporting."
She says some words, and the wand in her hand glows. The four stones each glow, and the building vanishes. You are in an empty white limbo. A second later, it appears to you as if you're in a large city. A very large, and very empty city. You feel a raindrop, and look up instinctively, to see blood falling from the sky. You look back down, around you and see thousands and thousands of bodies in the streets. A building errupts into flames, and a fire begins to spread. You can't seem to move, simply staring at it too shocked to do anything. You hear an evil cackle, and look to find its source. A man in a black cape, sword in hand is walking away from you, laughing manically. Your vision begins to go dark, then it goes back to normal, to find yourself standing in a similar room, with a different woman next to you."
She looks at you, and asks "Name and Reason for being here."

"Hmm. Well, welcome to Terra's Raider Base. You'll have to check in with Commander Terra, her office is actually the first door on your left outside of here, so its not hard to find."
You walk out of the teleporting room, and find the door open, and a woman walking out, of course in the brown robes of the military. She has a higher rank than Ria did, a midlevel general.
"Hmm. I thought I knew everyone here. Therefore, you must be the new recruit that Ria promised me. Correct?"

"Good, good. She told me good things about you. I expect you to live up to that. Raiding is an exciting job, far more interesting than guard duty, and while dangerous, far less dangerous than the party going directly into Velazian lands. One of the best jobs in the military.
I shall explain the ins and outs of it. Walk with me, I'll show you to where your room will be. Each mission you are assigned to, you'll go with a raiding party. Sometimes they are as small as a single squad of 10, sometimes the entire camp participates in the raid, if we are trying to annihilate the target out of existance.
Anyway, you'll be assigned to a squad of 10, one of you being the squad leader of course. Typically, you'll be assigned a directive, and maybe some rules to follow, within the raid, and as long as you get that accomplished while there, assuming the raid in general is successful, may take anything you wish to, and do anything you wish while actually there. Your actions, if beneficial to the raid as a whole, whether heroic, ingenious or otherwise will earn you bonus points with your officers which will put you up for promotion. Normally it takes so many missions to get promoted, but bonus points and medals, such as the one you have earned already will get you early promotions.
Of course, loot isn't the only payment you'll receive. You'll be rewarded money for the mission, depending on your rank, and bonus points may earn you an bonus for the mission. You can spend your money on equipment on the Base Store, or pay for training classes of any kind. The store has some useful equipment for raiding. We prefer people have own their own equipment rather than using the Base's own extra supplies.
As a military Raider you will not have to perform guard duty. Whenever not actually on a mission, you'll have time to yourself. You have a room here, and at the moment we have enough rooms for single bunking. Anyway, here's your room. It's got a chest and a dresser for storage, and of course a bed. There's a map in here to tell you how to get to the Store, training facilities, meeting hall, mess hall, teleporting room, and anywhere else you wish to go.
I'll let you get accquainted with everything for the new few hours, but an hour after sunset we have a raid planned, and I'd like you to come on it. Afterall, the best way to learn is to experience and do it yourself. Any questions?
