You have been led blindfolded to the underground headquarters of the Bjensfir Tong. The expansive complex is insulated by the layers of snow above and the fires burning in the numerous hearths scattered about. Rough hands remove your head covering, and you find the dim light to be little better than your previous darkness. Peering to your left, you vaguely make out two shady figures being led off. To your right, there's another person. A large, muscular woman grabs you and shoves you towards a doorway on the right. You go through.
Inside there's a small, dark room, in which the temperature seems to strangely fluctuate. A tall, old, white-bearded man with wide eyes looks over and raises both hands.
Man: Aha!
White sparks dance between his fingertips for a brief moment, then he whirls and hurls a ball of fire at the base of the back wall. You glimpse a squeaking rat at the point where the burning orb hits. It explodes, causing you some small discomfort.
Man: You! You know the day?
Oriana: ...er... oh. But of course. The moons have set in the north.
He grins madly at the code phrase.
Man: Ahaha! You've come to the right place! You wanna kill stuff?! 'course you do!
His eyes widen even more and with a cold, smoking beam, he freezes one of the stones in the wall behind you.
Man: We'll train you real good! So you can get to the killing! What's your name, lass?
Oriana: It's Oriana, sir.
Man: Aha! Oriana! Ahhh!
Once more, he takes it upon himself to violently incinerate a scurrying rat behind him with an unnecessarily destructive flaming bolt.
Man: Well! I'm Hreklor the Temperate! Speaks o' my mild countenance!
Oriana: ...er...
Hreklor: You're with us now! A Snowflake! Train you first, then give you a blood note so you can kill stuff! Ahaaaa!
Another random burst of flames emits from his whirling body. When he settles down, you see a lock has somehow come into his hand.
Hreklor: Know how to pick these?
Oriana: Yes, sir, I do.
Hreklor: GREAT! Take a look at this one!
As he tosses you the lock, the relative proximity of his hands causes you to shiver at the cold, then recoil at the sudden heat. You inspect it and find a simple alarm trap-- you've seen them before. They make a very loud noise, but don't do any harm. You rummage through your clothing for your thieves' tools.
Hreklor: Got tools already?! Aha! Excellent! Know what's in there?
Oriana: Yes, I believe it's an alarm trap.
Hreklor: That's right! GREAT! I don't have to teach you! AHA!
This time, he freezes a spider's entire web in the back corner of the room between the left side of the wall and the ceiling. It is briefly beautiful, an intricate pattern encased in ice, before he sets the whole thing to flames, spider included. Subsequently to this, he produces a small chain with six locks on it. Most of them have different kinds of catches and traps. You proceed to disarm each one quickly and effectively. His eyes widen again as he laughs wildly.
Hreklor: Lovely! How about toxins? Know about those?
Oriana: Not... not very much, no.
Hreklor: Well! Two kinds! Venoms are used through contact with the blood! Can be done by the point of a weapon, or by putting it into food or drink! Ahh!
He whirls about, but finds nothing to direct his apparent rage against. Regardless, he channels a hot beam into a side wall.
Hreklor: Then there's applied poisons! One kind, you breathe 'em and that's it! The other-- like this-- touch your skin, and you're done for! Ha!
With obvious and uncharacteristic care, he pours a few drops from the vial he just took out onto his arm.
Hreklor: Test you now! Through that hall to your right! The north one! THAT ONE!
A flaming bolt indicates the correct corridor.
Hreklor: Little man named Jygarl the White! Got an antidote for this! It's called summerstorm petal! Room's got traps! LOTS of traps! Go through there and get me the antidote! You've got an hour! Go!
A bit wary, you enter the hall. What do you want to do?

You dash towards the pit. The hell hound chases you. You stop, whirl around, and try to throw it in. You succeed and it goes hurtling into the pit. Unfortunately, it just climbs out, scrabbling on the ledge for a bit before pulling itself up.

You do so, leaping over the trap tile. When the hell hound runs over it, ropes shoot out of the walls in front of it, and then a net falls onto it, ensnaring it completely. It thrashes as it tries to escape, but only succeeds in further entangling itself.
