Test Your Vocabulary

I apparently know 30 400 words. That's barely above the 65th percentile, and I am ashamed.

I've never seen "leitmotif" spelled "leitmotiv" before, but I know what it means.

33,000 words, just under 80th percentile, & well above the average for my age.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Accentuate the positive.

I recognized some of the top tier words, but I didn't check them since I don't know the exact meaning (just the sort of feeling or context you'd use them in).

Though, just because I don't know the exact meaning, it doesn't stop me from masturbating those sort of words into my sentences.

That was my problem too, Ace. Recognising the word, possibly knowing the appropriate context to use it in, but not being able to specifically name a definition to it made me go "eehhh" and skip some of them.

25,900.

I nearly have the vocabulary of a 21-year-old. Given that it's merely 70 words short, I'll just go ahead and round that up.

If you read the FAQ, they say that everything is really skewed upwards. You know, because only word nerds test their vocabulary.

Fun fact: over forty percent of people never read another book after college.

Apparently, I am similar to some of you; think I know how to use the word but was unable to quickly define it mentally so skipped it. My score came up as 30800. ;) :D

It's about right for me (relatively) since I write, but probably underestimates the sort of people who have little interest in 'literary' vocabulary but know a lot of technical language or jargon... of course, I understand why they'd choose not to include that.
