oh, BALLS. I'm going away on sunday and Zaidon is quite busy... hope our battle ends up with more than 4 posts. zaidon response plorxSlim Jim McGuffney wrote:Dude, I'm sorry to hear that. I was looking forward to reading what you and Scrip would come up with together. I'll have to watch for that battle if and when it happens.
As an official announcement, I'm giving this round until Wednesday. I should be able to find some sort of judge before then.

There was a bang, and the wall behind the oily creature was quickly painted black. This bang was followed by a squeal as the monster flew at Ramses, with eyes that seemed to burn with hate. It struck quickly, and Ramses was flung across the casino room once again, leaving the weapon he had managed to pick up behind.
The black creature quickly leapt at Ramses and bit down on his arm hard, before he could recover from the toss. The decayed man grunted in severe pain as the monster managed to rip off the arm, spraying dark blood across the room.
With both arms gone, a panicked Ramses quickly drank blood nearest to him. He had no clue if anything would happen, if anything, but to him it was worth a shot.
"Activating Legs of the Loser. a familiar voice seemed to whisper in his ears.
At that moment, strange, glowing red runes briefly appeared on his legs. The monster seemed to watch in curiosity, perhaps seeing a chance at more power. The legs slowly became a dark black, and beefed up. The runes continued to remain present, as they slowly moved about the leg.
Ramses quickly leapt at the monster, and swung with a kick. Instantly, the monster screeched in pain as part of it's body was separated from the rest. The oily black liquid spilled onto the floor, as did the beast. Both of them.
The man who once had two arms was disoriented. He was muttering nonsense, as his jaw and body swung wildly.

Also, it appears we're both going away on Sunday. I'll be back in August. How long are you gone?
EDIT: Aw, CRAP, it doesn't matter if round one ends on Wednesday! Gotta type up a super post RIGHT NAO.

I forgot Zaidon had this ability...
Okay, Vapor, plorx it is...
<Oh, #$!&... this is gonna hurt...>
Zaidon saw the Gearsword coming down. He knew that if it fell on his head this time instead of his chest, it would ultimately be a fatal blow. He had no choice. He threw his left arm up at as much of a deflecting angle as he could. The sword was pushed to the side away from his head. It happened so quickly. He turned up the heat energy output of his right hand so high that his vision became wavy and the air around his hand reached its flashpoint and burst into flames. He plunged the fiery fist into the robot's neck. The sword dropped to the ground. But what was more amazing was when both fighters took to the sky, Zaidon holding Gear by the bottom of his lozenge-shaped cranial device.
Zaidon looked at his left hand. It was no longer there! The sword had sliced clean through his radius and ulna. No blood poured from the wound. It was simply an exposed, meaty stump on the end of his arm. The realization and the pain assailed him simultaneously. He exploded in a deafening, excruciating scream and shot through the air holding the murderous machine. He held him forward and they smashed through a tower. White Gear was absolutely stunned. It was nothing that Zaidon was suspending the robot's weight with one hand; what confused Gear was that they were seventy-five feet above the ground moving at the speed of a falcon.
Through another tower they smashed. But Zaidon was holding Gear in front of him, meaning that Gear's body was breaking the walls. While crashing through the third tower, the strain on Gear's melted arm was too great and it was ripped from his body at the shoulder joint. After the fourth tower, Gear began slugging Zaidon everywhere from the groin to the sternum with his remaining arm, doing only local damage. Zaidon responded by jerking him violently. This of course did no real damage, but only served to throw off the aim of his punches.
They smashed through the fifth tower. Gear reached into Zaidon's broken and battered chest and removed one of the gear-shurikens that had been imbedded in it earlier.
<How do you even live?! There must be vital organs in there somewhere!>
Gear took the shuriken in hand and slashed Zaidon's neck open. Zaidon looked up at him and mouthed these words, although no sound came out of his lips.
"[Not there, either!]"
Zaidon threw him forward a bit but caught him again, with a reversed grip. He held Gear like a tennis racket using his head as the handle. He then performed a complete spin in mid-air, getting tremendous swing, and 'power smashed' him through the final tower. They both tumbled to the ground and rolled for about thirty feet, flopping like rag-dolls and bashing against all sorts of debris like busted up bricks and dead things in general.
It took Zaidon about 5 seconds to get up. He stood up as tall as he could, blinking and staggering. He looked at Gear and mouthed these words while thinking them 'loudly', hoping that the telepathic link was still open and that he would hear them with full effect,
"[By the way... I FLY.]"
<By the way... I FLY.>
Then he collapsed next to the nearly-destroyed robot.
In truth, he actually began the process of dying. He lay for five minutes dying, until the wind kicked up in Oceansford. Wind. Rapidly moving air molecules. Could it recharge him enough to save his life?
Zaidon's eyes opened.
<Is that.... a windstorm...? ... Gotta... stand.... Have to... get to my.. feet...>
He rolled painfully into a sitting position. All his ribs were broken and now, with no more adrenaline rush, he feels how painful it is to move his arms with bone fragments stabbing into his frayed pectoral muscles. His left hand was gone, and his left leg was badly damaged, making him very lopsided.
He finally managed to rise to his feet. He spread his arms out and looked to the sky, feeling the wind bring him the atoms he needed to recharge. He looked down at the dormant combat droid. It was not moving. Not a gear was spinning.
<I beat it.... It's destroyed! I survived... and I destroyed it!!>
Suddenly, the robot's hand shot out and clamped around Zaidon's bad leg. He was so terrified he couldn't even think.
<The news of my destruction is greatly exaggerated...>
<No! This can't be happening!>
<Ha! Denial won't save you. With both of our being machines in our own respect, did you not think that I, too, entered an energy-preserving state, thinking that YOU had died and that I had won?>
The robot hand squeezed around Zaidon's ankle and both heard the bones crunch.
<You underestimate me by forgetting one thing...>
Gear's triangular optic lens began flashing and glowing a sinister violet hew.
<Even if I cannot move the lower half of my body... even if you rip off an arm, I still need only one arm and this eye to kill you. You will not escape...>
Zaidon struggled but could not escape the mechanoid's grip.
<NOOOO!>
Gear fired. Again. again. again. A blast punched all the way through Zaidon's torso. One blew off his nose and burst his right eye. One dislocated his right shoulder. After eight blasts, the already cracked lens finally shattered. The blasts now were not only unaimed, but didn't have a lens through which to focus, and were being shot out at weird shapes and angles, occasionally even waves. An unaimed blast found its way to Zaidon's leg, blowing off Gear's thumb, the only opposing digit, allowing Zaidon to be freed from his grasp. Of course, Zaidon lost his leg from the ankle down in the process...
Even though Gear could no longer feel his opponent, it did not stop him from trying to blindly hit him with a random pulse blast, which he was now firing in every direction.
<DIE! DIE! DIE!>
While Zaidon was hopping away on one foot, a blast hit him in the back and knocked him face-first into the wall of Castle Oceansford.
"[The wall...]," his lips moved.
It was his last chance, he thought. He put his hand on the wall's foundation, and its temperature started to rise. The heat induced it's way around a large section of the castle's outer wall, and the foundation began to melt. The great weight of the wall itself aided with its pressure, like the weight of floodwaters creating the core of a volcano. With the strength of the wind blowing against it, the mighty wall of Oceansford Castle collapsed on the warriors.
[OoC]Okay, sorry if some of that was out-of-character for the White Gear.

[ooc] I am out of town and have very limited internet time, but we're supposed to be headed back tomorrow. I probably won't be able to post until tomorrow afternoon or evening though.
I may be able to get in before time is called but I doubt it.
Even if I don't, I won't complain, mine and X-3's fight this round was pretty good, not many posts, but still good. [/ooc]

Round over.
For the record, I'm not eliminating anyone due to time constraints simply because this has been hectic and people have been all over the place. Half of everyone would have been eliminated if that were the case.
Aside from that, I still don't have two more judges. I will tentatively set the time limit for judgments until next Wednesday. If I don't have at least one more judge by then, I will post my judgment regardless and we may end up having to just go on that. However, if I can help it, that won't be the case.
If anyone has contact with somebody who would be interested in judging this, be sure to run the request by them.

Just a quick update. There is at least one other person judging this as of now, and I'll let him reveal himself as he pleases. I am still seeking another judge, but I have begun reading. I will try my damnedest to be done by tomorrow, but as I won't be home as much as I thought tomorrow or Thursday, and because I gave the other judge until Saturday, I'll try to have this judged by Friday at the latest. And that's final. I won't allow myself to postpone it any more than that, so hold me to it. With knives.

Nah. If it doesn't happen in a timely fashion, I'll just continue the battle in the last NLBFT as a mockery of the slowness. :p

Hey Battlers!
I snuck in the other day and have been watching the replays from the second judges seat since then. Didn't you notice me?
Uh-oh, alarms bells. A non-regular in the judging chair? I know what you're thinking but let me put your worries to rest, I do have some experience. I've been in and out the Gunjin for most of the time that I've been at VGF. I haven't battled in years mind, but I've read plenty. This is an excellent forum to lurk and I'm sure I'm not the only one that keeps tabs on this place. So having said that I hope you can respect my passing of judgement and although once I've scored a battle I won't change that score, I am open to any criticism you care to raise.
Ok, now that's all out the way, can I just say how excited I am to judge this. When Gale asked me the judge I was like "sure, sounds like fun!" Then when I read the rules of this particular tournament I went "whoa, wait a minute... Not about pretty writing?" I wasn't so sure anymore. But I said I'd take a look and get back to him so I dived in and started reading some battles. Some long, some short, some non-existent; I hadn't read half of them when I noticed, after reading a large post full of action, that I was silently judging the posts in my head. I knew then that I'd manage it.
So I've set some time aside to give your posts the respect they deserve, this is a tournament and you've made the effort for the most part so I should too. I'm about half way through the battles, taking notes along the way, and should be done by Friday. Hopefully I arrange my thoughts and notes and can thrash out a score post on Friday, if not look for it on the Saturday.
Good luck guys, you'll hear from me in a few days!

Judgments shall be up as soon as I get home and finish reading the battles and writing them up. Apologies for not getting it done sooner, this week's been all over the goddamn place in terms of rehearsal schedule, getting my class schedule set up right, and so on and so forth. I'm going to try desperately to meet my self-set deadline, so if it's not up until 4 AM tonight, pretend like it was still technically Friday when I posted it plox.

K. So I'm definitely going to be finished reading tonight. I have a performance early in the morning that's crippling my plan to stay up to finish writing tonight, meaning I will have to (ugh) put it off for one final day. At least you'll get all the judgments at around the same time, rite?
