I know, I know, I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Gunjin. It seems like many involved with this stuff dislike me. But I'd like to just throw out some ideas to support your goal of reviving the Gunjin Battlefield.

A sort of some few Newbie training things. All those less experienced can team against a battle of a few veterans here. It would be interesting, since the Veterans would be outnumbered, but more experienced.

Another Newbie-Traning idea. The mods set up a thread that's a sort of "Newbie Training Camp." Those less experienced sign on, and the mods set up Gunjin matches between those signed on, so they will be equally matched. The mods then judge, and show examples of how they can improve. There could also be some "Ranking" things, such as showing the Current Top Noob.

A Newbie Tournament. This all I can think of at the moment, but I'll post more once I think of some more ideas. I hope this helps at all.

This resembles the "Training Fields" idea that Blake put forward and had been kicking around in the Gunjin for a while. If we do something like this, it'll have much less structure. The top noob thing is out of the question; to put forward ranks is to cause trouble, and we've shot down the idea several times.

However, I like your initiative. Any further ideas should be posted in the Announcements topic, so remember that.

A score before the end of the year would be much appreciated.

Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users?

Well, I must thank you, Tazy. That topic in the past didn't have anyone yell at people to do things, and look what happened. All that discussion in that topic was for nothing; it changed nothing at all, and many people left after it.

This rhetorical madness then simply has to stop, and I apologize for trying to start it up again earlier. For all their words, Wyborn, Selene, and co. did nothing to fix the problem they argued about, and only let it continue to be--since words don't make the problem go away: ACTIONS do.

So... I would suggest we not deliberate much more on the subject, as more deliberation on the nature of the battlefield is useless--only action can do anything about it, whether or not it is now or back 2 years ago.

^ Like what? We can come up with plenty of ideas, but having everybody agree on them, or garner interest and participation is going to be difficult.

I threw out a couple ideas before but they didn't go over well. =/

I'm just goin' with the ideas I have, like that new topic I made.

As a final note...

You know, back in the day, we just went 'FIGHT!!!' and that was just fine. It was only until everybody got all cerebral and set up rules talking about fairness that, ironically, the fairness and activity got messed up.

I think if you just went 'Best writing wins; who cares who physically wins in battle, if it's awesome then it's awesome', and then were fairly neutral as far as styles, then you'd have a pretty simple answer.

'Course, I'm thinking with some ancient mindset here, so if it doesn't fit in the logic-hockey going on above, then feel free to ignore it.

Inferno Dragon wrote:guys, you rock. now see, this is exactly how the gunjin should be. seriously, this place was awsome back in the day, we had one inn, and like 15 battles going on at the same time, and I was involved in multiple battles when I was on here back then. but seriously, things need to go back to the way they were, just a bunch of fights with a little character devellopment in them but not too much. these are just fights, and nothing more, they're not art, they're not gonna ever end up as published books, they're just fights we have for fun. we don't have to make things so complicated and we shouldn't make fights into these overly artistic things. maybe once a year we should have a massive epic battle that should be artistic. But we don't need that for EVERY. SINGLE. TOPIC!!!

honestly I think that the gunjin started to decline when almost everyone started thinking that every single battle had to be really artistic and every post had to be really long to be a good post.

That is primarily my plan. Just go with what sounds fun, and take all the angst and idiocy and debating out of it. Though I'm not gonna stop anyone else from continuing to debate the scientific properties of what is supposed to just be fun.

Well, I stopped myself, but that's another story. :p

Call me slow but is it really intrest that we need to draw up or momentum? While we need new blood to help reinvigerate the BF we also need the ability to keep both old and new members attention. Look at NLBFT 13 it drummed up some intrest and kept rolling because it was an active event it wasn't untill the momentum began to run low that it began sputtering to a stop.

Speaking of the NLBFT I think that whenever the next is setup that backup judges should be salected in case the three main judges are unable to render a ruling after a set amount of time.
