Is Wart next in line?

#1

Post by JaredThaJa888 » Mon Nov 16, 2009 3:23 pm

Nintendo has been slowly waking up to the fact that fans want their forgotten characters back, Luigi was returned to being Playable, and now the Koopalings and Kamek are back in full swing.

And the Wario series brought back Captain Syrup.

So logically it sounds like Wart and his gang (Mouser, Tryclyde, Fryguy and Clawgrip) ought to be next, either him or Tatanga.

Perhaps a NSMB style return to SMB2 style game play, since Mario Vs Donkey Kong brought back the even less well remembered Donkey Kong 94 game play.

Super Princess Peach and Super Paper Mario have further explored what can be done with a playable Toadstool, and Toad playability was brought back by NSMBWii.

P.S. If Tatanga returns I'd actually like to see him as an RPG antagonist.

If Wart comes back, I want him to be sinister, not goofy, as many people portray him as.

Mario Games are Goofy in nature, even the most Sinister Mario Villain, Smithy, was a little Goofy.

But, but he is goofy, who else would trap dreampeople and have a machine that throws vegetables in the way to stop you?

He'd make a great villain for the next big Mario RPG, since those villains tend to be one-shots with supernatural/otherworldly origins.

I like to think Dimentio was the darkest Mario villain. And seeing Tatanga as an RPG Villain would be cool.

Also Wart IS sinister! By controlling the dream realm he can sway the mind of virtually anyone who sleeps. Within days he would control the entire population of the planet! Wart would rule both the Concrete and Abstract worlds!

By goofy, I meant the way Bowser is in most of the RPGs. I want Wart to really be serious about his plans.

That would make a great plot for a Mario RPG.

Yes, it would, another intresting RPG plot would be an attempted Coup of Bowser's Kingdom by one or a few of the Koopa Kids.

I've felt a story about the Koopalings revolting out of their jealousy towards Bowser Jr being the Favorite would be cool.

You just gave me a cool Deathmatch Idea, Wart Vs Freddy Kruger.

Dimentio is the only villain to date to ever have technically killed Mario.

I think it'd be cool if they brought back Wart, whether it were a "sequel" to Super Mario Bros. 2 (can anyone say New Super Mario Bros. 2?), or a different appearance. Heck, they have Funky Kong as a playable character in Mario Kart Wii. Why couldn't Wart appear in the next one?

Hmm, could work but what could they do that hasn't already been done for the first two NSMB games?

It would be as different from the other New SMB games as SMB 2 is from the original SMB. We're not talking about a sequel to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, y'see. We're talking about giving SMB 2 the same treatment they gave the original SMB when they made New SMB. It would have the same basics as SMB 2 while introducing new concepts, characters, and items. You'd still throw veggies, you'd still battle Wart, and you'd still be able to play as Mario, Luigi, Toad, or the Princess, but there would also be new enemies to mix with the old, brand new levels and music, etc.

That'd be awesome.

I know that's what you ment but SMB2 US works quite diffrentlly then SMB/3 so aside from some diffrent types of baddies and Veggies, some new grunts, music what else could they do? Addomg something like the fire flower would be a huge game breaker here. I love SMB2 US but I'm not sure if giving it a NSMB make over would work as well for it.

The setup:
After eating too many leftover slices of Peach's cake at 3 AM, Mario's sleep is troubled by yet another dream of Subcon.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Items and enemies from the more traditional SMB games wouldn't appear in a New SMB 2, naturally (although there could be exceptions under the right circumstances). I'm sure Nintendo would find themselves capable of adding sufficient new material to the SMB 2 formula.

Wart pretty much owns IMO. I'd love to see him back.
