Sonic turns 18

#1

Post by Valigarmander » Tue Jun 23, 2009 2:57 am

18 years ago, on June 23rd, 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog made his debut in his self-titled game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and has since hosted a franchise which has sold over 50 million copies, and appeared in several different cartoons, movies and comics (Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog series is the longest-running comic series based off of a video game series).

So, put on your running shoes, eat a few chili dogs and celebrate the coming of age of one of the most prominent video game series ever.

Man, I can't believe Sonic is 18. I remember watching the cartoon and everything. Do you know if it still comes on?

So he was a baby and the first 3 Sonic games were his imagination since he didn't develop excellent motor skills yet?

^^ You mean SatAM or AoStH? Those don't run anymore, but you could probably find old episodes on Youtube or something.

I think there's a Sonic X cartoon that might still be on WB or something.

I think he means the 18th anniversary of Sonic, not literally--if it went by the first game's age and got older with real time, he'd be slightly older than most of the older Sonic fans. :p

On a related note, Mario will be turning thirty in 2011! So come on over to the Mario Forum and help us celebrate for the next two or three years!

I know. The title makes it sound like age.

Oh, Metal Mario, he uses a topic about a Non-Mario character, to talk about Mario, and doesn't care about anything else.

It's that kind of attitude that gets you shanked faster than anyone.

When you tune in to watch a TV show, you don't care about the commercials, right? They're an unwelcome intrusion, right? But they come anyway. Because the advertisers are trying to reach people.

This topic is brought to you by the Mario Forum.

Happy birthday, Sonic.

Too bad I'm not a fan of you anymore. Thanks for the fun in the past though.

This is a Topic not a Television Channel. There are distinct differences, such as needing to pad out a 20 to 25 minute TV Show into a 30 minute Time Slot.

If you wanted to advertise the Mario Forum on a completly different forum, make an ad and make it so it shows up on VGF.

I'm not saying you can't advertise certain forums, if they're lacking in popularity (MUGEN Forum, go there now), but not only does the Sonic Forum have less going on in it then the Mario Forum, but you're hyping up something that isn't gonna come for another 2 years. It makes it like you're deliberatly trying to keep attention away from Sonic (or any forum you're hyping the Mario Forum in) while being a jerk.

This isn't a contest. It's one Forum. It's not like we're fighting for attention or anything.
