Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

#1

Post by I REALLY HATE POKEMON! » Tue Aug 11, 2009 6:47 pm

I bought this game recently, and I expected more from it. A chunk of the gameplay is just crappy "Kill it, kill it" Missions, and the story is pretty crappy so far (though I'm not too far yet).

As for the gameplay and how it works, it is essentially Kingdom Hearts but crappy. The only thing going for it is the graphics and voice acting.

So what do you guys think of this game?

Well, not far in the story. The Turk guy just joined me, but I've been playing for hours doing Missions.

Except that this game introduced the only Turk besides Rude who didn't suck ass from the get go.

You know...Cissnei. Too bad they never really thought of going that much with her. Probably because they didn't wanna give the fangirls any feasible ground of accusing her of being a Mary Sue. (Yes, they were actually insulting her for being a Sue.)

But of course it sucks! It also drains whatever little toughness Sephiroth had from him.

I actually liked the development Sephiroth had.

Even if it shows a moment where I actually smiled at Cloud but is bad for Sephi fans. (Because he still holds onto the damn sword)

Ok, now that I'm far, I must say it's great. Or, could've been. This game's a prime example of wasted potential. For one, it can be hilarious, and is action packed, with good story and characters, but the camera sucks.

Ah, the MGS-esque infiltration level.. It was ruined by the camera and infuriating squats in front of chests.

Still hate Missions, but the game's charming. My fave part, which made me lol, was where a guard tells you not to enter a room but says he won't stop you due to his cowardice.

I really, really wish that if they insist on continuing to make FFVII spinoffs, they focus on things other than the Nibelheim incident, which most of these seem to focus on. -CSM

Well, I never got past Disc 1 on FF7, and haven't yet played Dirge of Cerberus or any of the other FF7 games, so this is like a fresh game to me.

^The game itself is actually a very fun game to play. Overrated? Absolutely. But bad? By all means no. Though the first disc is easily the most fun part of the game. -CSM

I beat FF7CC. I already knew what was gonna happen but not exactly how it would end.
I actually thought it was pretty sad, the part from where Cloud reaches out to Zack, up until the kinda dumb ascension thing Zack goes through. Heaven or something. But man, when you actually battle using him until he's so weak he can't walk, it ties you in pretty good. And I liked Zack a lot, he was a good character.
I haven't played much of this game yet, but I bought it a week ago. The story and cutscenes seem interesting, but I think the battle system, like a couple of you have said, seems a bit rough. It could have been better thought-out, I think.
