FFIV got a sequel because it benefited from a remake, and got people interested. I guarantee if VI were in it's place, the same would happen.
Well, let's look at FF4, FF7, and FF10. They all had sequels, and are all among the most popular of the FF series, along with FF6 (which, itself, got a tech demo for the N64). FF4 had a remake and a sequel, FF7 is like the FF poster child, and FF10 got a sequel. So while just having sequels doesn't make the game
better, it proves that it was at least good enough to get a sequel.
You may be right though, if FF6 got a remake, it'd probably get a sequel.
^^
I don't think so. Final Fantasy is about story, and it always has been. Maybe FF6 looked better, but that's partially due to technical limitations. However, If we're comparing stories, not to knock on FF6 (I liked it too), but FF4 was much more grand. FF4 could be made into a movie, good sir, and I cannot say the same for FF6.
