Remember Watergate? It's like that, but cold.

Good to hear you're working on other styles of play, though.

Okay, so I just looked up your rpg character?
You're still level one and you only fought 14 battles.
Further more, it says you somehow managed to lose 6 of them. I don't even know how you did that, considering it's rare for the first enemies to even be able to hurt you.
I'm thinking RPGs just aren't your thing because... wow. >_>

Woah there, Val. Can't fire all the ammo at once. We need to save the big guns for later.

No, it's that the early enemies are so high in strength and and hitpoints relative to the starting character that it's a total gamble as to whether I win or not. I can't do anything to affect the outcome. It reminds me most of this one other RPG that I played - a highly recommended indie effort. Great storyline, alright graphics - but it had a horrible grind. It got to a stage where to advance, I needed to buy a certain piece of armor and level up twice - and to do so I had to grind wolves in a patch of grass for an hour and a half. The wolves were almost as strong as your character, and so after every two battles, you needed to walk back into town to buy potions. In both games, you only have the single "ATTACK" option open at that point. That single incident happened four hours into the game. You managed to have yours present itself at the very start.
There's apparently great things beyond these points, but I feel no need to punish myself for hours on end to get to this promised content.
It has been a few months since I've played the VGF RPG, admittedly. Have you tuned down the enemies since then?
Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users?

To be completely honest...I never had any real trouble at the start of the game, and I've created several different characters with different attributes at different points of the games development to test the systems difficulty level. And while I will admit that the Robobee and a few other bosses can be a real pain, it is nothing that can not be over come by immersing yourself into the game a little more. Crav and even more so S1x for that matter have dragged the game play for this free RPG system far enough from the depths of Hell to be pretty enjoyable.

I can’t lie and say that I haven’t spent my fair share of hours on working up my various characters. But I must admit that whatever time you do invest in riding this game out will be well worth it. The hidden items, the side quests and a few secret locations here and there will not leave you disappointed. Plus as you accumulate items and strength the competitive aspect of the game which has yet to be fully utilized will be all the more entertaining. I enjoy the game enough to where I find myself actually waiting for the new areas to be developed so that I can become the first to conquer and reap the benefits of each new level. This is done mostly because I feel that the level of game play is far more enjoyable when you play against another member rather than an NPC. And when that member has an item or has beaten a boss that you haven’t it makes the challenge and game play all the more likable (didn’t want to use the word “enjoyable” again).

Also , I never really found myself having to level up for a long period of time to defeat a standard enemy. The bosses of course will require some individuals to run through your standard “graveyard” fights to gain the necessary attribute and skill points that will allow you to defeat the selected boss, but the mods are working with a basic RPG program here so you can’t expect too much. Thanks to Crav a lot of hidden gems are scattered through out the game and S1x has made the early storylines for the contests and quests really entertaining. Although the new weight system discourages the trading of finely crafted armor and weapons to lower level characters the more interaction you have with other players will help you move the game along at a better pace (assuming anyone else is using the damn thing at the same time you are). I would suggest that people take their time with the game and keep with it until you reach that annoying RPG construction worker, at which point you flip your middle finger to the computer screen with respect and then go walk the dog.

Also A.I is ****ing rocking the graphics aspect of this game. VGF in my opinion has a wealth of talented people patrolling the boards. The fact that we managed to steer one of them over to this free game system that our message board offers is a definite plus. Kudos to you A.I you cheeky bastard you !! And MOTHER ****ING KUDOS TO CRAV OR S1X who thought of reaching out to the talent that comes here.

Thanks, Joker. Your enthusiasm makes it well worth it to donate my time to this project.

Alright, I knew I said I'd try to contribute with sprites, but with the current state my computer is in, it's really difficult to work on. Even using my tablet, half the time it's like trying to draw on a table with a bunch of bumps on it. So, for the moment... no custom stuff from me.

Maybe if I can get this junker fixed... or replaced.

I find that part of the game to be kind of a mess, so I haven't decided if I'll just leave it be or not, as the sort of departure into strangeness that it is.

Since my PC is down for the count at the moment, it might be a few days or more before I can continue graphical work on the RPG. I expect to be able to work on it on Monday, as long as the materials I ordered arrive.

4 new portraits are up in the City by the Sea. Forest Edge's town also has some new portraits, as does the Treasure Hunter's Guild, both of which I forgot to mention whenever I finished them.

3 more portraits to go up when Crav's on again, finishing up all of the ugly men from the City by the Sea and the Path of the Fist dojo.

My current favorite is now the replacement for the innkeep of the Classic Inn, at the City by the Sea:

I hope I did him justice as the gallant and charming man that he obviously is.
