Because I didn't place a key in the next room. Not yet, at least. You said earlier when you joined that you hadn't done a good ROLEPLAY in a while, so I understand that you might not understand the rules. I'm the Game-Master, and I decide what's in each room and the overall outcome of things. You can still role-play what your character says and does, but you can't decide the outcome of what happens or what's in each room. Unless of course, I actually did put a key in the room, and just forgot. If so, my apologies. I'll check.

I also join Speed at the bookshelf by trying to press in all the books on the shelf to see if one is a switch.
Also considering I'm unarmed I take three of the lighter books on the shelf (around 5 lbs) and set them aside in case I need to throw anything at enemies in an attempt to escape combat.
