Temporary Characters (Possible spoilers)
There are some characters who join your party in an RPG and they are only there for a little while, or don't follow you forever. In order to bring them with you to the final battle, you may have to do a sidequest or hack them.
Perhaps the most famous one is Aerith but no need to really give her any tribute, cept she had good limit breaks. (Which I didn't know about)
One of the greatest examples would be Final Fantasy II and IV. Both of them, IV moreso, had a revolving door of characters with a lot of them being temporary. Some were pretty useful, like Yang and Tellah (Until Palam and Porom catch up that is) and some were useless...like Edward until the DS Remake and hard version. (Does Salve work with Elixirs? He vanished from the party before I had the chance to obtain any)
Jeanne d'Arc also has a temporary character.
Liane is in your party for a good majority of the game before she is burned at the stake due to Jeanne having been removed from the party...yeah, weird that the MAIN CHARACTER was actually absent for several hours' worth of the story, huh? Well Liane's death is also a pretty big plotpoint for the game, since that's when Roger goes crazy and the Reapers start to show up, and it still affects them throughout the rest of the game, especially the battle with the Reaper that was fused with Roger...even if she was nothin more than a Decoy while Jeanne, Richard, and Gilles de Rais did all the work.
But said character is replaced with someone who has the same stat growth. Probably because said temporary character was my healer and you're forced to use them a lot.

I'm just going to say it now, Leo from FFVI he could have broken the game if he was useable for more then one battle. As for the other guest party member Banon well if him getting KOed didn't result in a game over he'd be damn usefull for boss fights.
CT had something of a rotating party as well and how usefull any given member is depend on the situation.

Well, you could technically argue that most characters other than Cecil in FFIV were 'temporary', but I was mostly saying that because I consider the 'main' party to be the party that fights Zeromus: Cecil, Kain, Edge, Rydia, and Rosa.
Delita is good, too. It's funny, there really aren't any other guests...the other guests end up joining your party in Tactics. :p

... How far did you get in FFIV/4 IRHP? Well considering that after the second chapter that you don't really need to keep the guests like Mustudio and the rest they kind are tempirary.

I REALLY HATE POKEMON! wrote:What? No, the Dark Knight is one, and I think maybe the guy who is like into astrology...but at least the former, I know he betrays you and is killed. In a very fun match may I add.
Olan is only one battle - a pretty short battle too. If you want to include him as a temporary, I suppose you could, but I was thinking a little more long term.
Gafgarion counts too, I suppose, and Argus but I didn't include them because I didn't like them as guests. That is the topic, isn't it? What temporary characters you like or not? I didn't like them, but when I made my original statement, I was referring to the other guests who become permanent members - you know, actually cool chracters like Orlandu and Agrias, NOT Gafgarion and Argus. Most of the cool temporary characters just become members of your party
the rest, Delita notwithstanding, die
.
I think you mean Tactics, Mustadio is not in 4.... How far did you get in FFIV/4 IRHP? Well considering that after the second chapter that you don't really need to keep the guests like Mustudio and the rest they kind are tempirary.

You mean, they are temporary because you can discharge them from your party? I suppose, but if you honestly get rid of Orlandu, you're an idiot. If you let them join your party, they are under your control and are no longer 'temporary' - they are your party, with you from then on.

I must have missread his post when he was talking about Gafgarion as he only refered to him as a dark knight because he had shortly mentioned Yang before that adding in Cecil's class change and you can see how not paying proper attention messed up my train of thought.
Yeah I was counting that, not only can you dissmiss them but also that they arn't required aside from a few storyline battles. Oh and no I wasn't fool enough to dissmiss T.G. Cid but he breaks the game so bad that it almost feels like cheating when you use him.

Woah, Nelly...
However, speaking of liking them, now that I think about it, I guess Gafgarion is cool.
^ Cid is cheap but, then again, my team of Cid and every other special character is, in whole, far cheaper. I loves me some Construct 9.
I didn't say you had to like them, I merely pointed out that there did exist guests aside from Delita who never completely join your party.ZeldaGirl wrote:There really aren't any other guests...the other guests end up joining your party in Tactics. :p

Why the 'whoa nelly?' I wasn't blowing up at you, I was just reiterating that the point of the topic was to mention which temporary characters were your favorite. :p Gafgarion and Algus didn't come to mind at first because I didn't really care for them. You see?I didn't say you had to like them, I merely pointed out that there did exist guests aside from Delita who never completely join your party.
And I addressed your point; yes, there are other guests, but my original point was that most of the temporary characters in the game actually do end up in your party, and I was remarking I found it funny. Out of like, I don't even know, 10-15 guests, there are very few that don't become permanent members. That was my point.
Ah, that makes sense. :pI must have missread his post when he was talking about Gafgarion as he only refered to him as a dark knight because he had shortly mentioned Yang before that adding in Cecil's class change and you can see how not paying proper attention messed up my train of thought.
