Either that, or it's because she isn't in the Kingdom of Zeal.

From what I understand, Elements came in from the Reptite timeline. The magic used in Zeal was because of Lavos' interference, which didn't happen in the Reptite timeline.

But the Reptites went extinct. Besides, in CT I don't remember hearing the word elements once...
Surely the inevitable "remake" of CC will solve a few of the issues as this CT did.

Yeah, I'm thinking no.

For two reasons One I'm not sure how much longer Square's going to keep up this remake blitz. Two if the game was confusing the first time around what makes you think they'll go through all the extra effort to sort out the plot for a remake that will get mixed reveiws simpaly for being a remake of a rather disputed game.

First, the remakes are big sellers, they will not stop.

Second, you have a point but it sold well. Well enough to be a best seller and almost (and may still) get a sequel.

It sold well back in the day because Square made it. Had the Chrono games been made by a smaller company like Working Designs it would just become another cult hit like the Lunar, Earthbound games.

Or simply for changing the game from how it was to bring in more players. Ubisoft tried to do that with Prince of Persia and Wizards tried to do that with D&D Fourth edition and look how well fans accepted those.
The Reptite timeline was an alternate universe where there was no interference from Lavos. The Reptites were supposed to wipe out the Apes and take the world for themselves. They used Elements because they were the natural power of the Planet. The Reptite capital, Dinopolis, was brought over to the CT universe when Lavos brought Chronopolis (this happened in the CC timeline, NOT the CT timeline, so that's why you have no Elements in CT.
-CSM

I think there's a reason they try to keep time-travel simple. *scratches head* When you bring all those alternative universes in....

This is why Chrono Cross is a bad game.

No, I think there are a few other reasons why it's a bad game.

^The star system, characters so pointless that even Selphie and Panelo look like they have reasons to exist, the fact that you spend like 75% of the time playing as the main villain, etc.

Also, there are only, like, two double techs. The double and triple techs are part of what makes the Chrono Trigger the awesome.

^That's true, too. And you have to sacrifice a Thief for all dual techs except Serge and Glenn's (hence why Glenn is probably the only cool character in CC). If there were fewer characters there would be more abilities. -CSM

Or there could've been 45 choose 2 times three = 2970 double techs. That would've been awesome.

and some characters who actually hold any remote story significance.

okay yeah I'm exaggerating there, since some like Serge's girlfriend actually have some importance. I still find some characters hard to take seriously when you run into mushroom-men or luchadores -exorcists and people with stereotypical accents.

The artstyle was also kind of...okay it's not the worst but I think eveyrone looked like kid's dolls. o.o
