I fixed the email link for you, Sean. It wasn't properly showing the 'subject' field.
And sorry for the delay, but here we go.

Of course, I don't have time to make a comic, buuuut...
As you can clearly see, Wario is copying the comic I used against him twice; furthermore, Sean Kelly confirmed PHP works on the site.
QED, Wario's comic fails.

If you can copy Donze's Deathazooka I can copy your comic(which I didn't do anyways)
PHP wont solve all of the problemsMetal Man wrote:furthermore, Sean Kelly confirmed PHP works on the site.
Just because you say it fails does not make it so. :pMetal Man wrote:QED, Wario's comic fails.

Deathzooka was actually a copy of Metal Man's Deathmachine. Don't believe me? Ask Jay Resop.
And candidates don't decide what they can't be attacked on. :p

That's the best sentence I've read the last days, for it exactly mirrors my opinion.
I haven't made so much campaigning this year. In the primaries the reason were my exams, but in this General Election it's another one. I'm very disappointed how the campaigns went.
The primaries were fun. I loved reading through all the party topics and even responded in each of them to announce my enjoyment about specific comix. But with the General Election beginning all this soon faded away. And at this point I have to tell a name: In my opinion, especially Metal Man is the source of all this.
I'm sorry Metal Man. I like you as a person and a user in this forums. But the way you decided to run your campaign just makes me sick. Really, I could puke each time I read your recent comix.
Right from the beginning of the General Election he started to bash on other candidates. Some weeks later he tries to prevaricate all by saying "Everything the others can do is attacking Metal Man". Not mentioning that in fact he has started everything.
Metal Man says that all the others are only copying from him, of course again not mentioning that he's not a piece better. For example, ss soon as Laika announced to reactivate Ask Dr Donez, he did the same. I could tell you even more examples, even copies from Yoshi's campaign.
He seems to be so proud of having been on the chat event, unlike many others. Well, I wouldn't give so much on this fact, considering that half of the other people announced weeks before they wouldn't have time on that date and kindly ask to move it.
And then the thing with the hotlinks. Are you really in need of changing the pictures on your server just because somebody uses it in his forum quotes? Hell, that's really dirty politics and the poorest thing you could ever do, or as Mush Man called it: Devious. As if that would have been necessary...
When Sean pronounced a mudslinging-free week, Metal Man showed himself indignant that "it was eagerly smashed to bits by some other candidates". Considering that Metal Man himself was one of the most important reasons for fighting against mudslinging, I wouldn't shoot my mouth off if I were him.
The best prove for this were the last few days. As soon as Metal Man is away for six days, everything here runs as perfect as it should be, making it a delight to read through the messages.
We should never forget, that all this Election here is for fun! But the things Metal Man did in the General Election, had nothing to do with fun.
Things were different in the primaries: The campaigns were nice, the comix actually were funny with a lot of jokes inside them. Even you, Metal Man, could do it this way, I liked your comix, and it was worth it: With this way of campaigning you won the primaries against the clearly favorite Fred. Why did you have to change it? Very sad...
I know you all wanted to see more comix from me, expecting me to be as active as in 2004. In fact, I also wanted it, and I also had (or have) a lot of ideas for this election. But everytime I read the newest messages in this topic, I lost interest in responding at once, and so I ended up in doing nothing.
I don't expect you to understand this. But if an election that should be for fun goes the way it did this year, I'm really not keen on participating - and in fact am proud of not being part of it (except for the one comic).
How true...

"On the Changes in Election Tone"
Today, I read a long post. It was by our favorite 'ill' person, who likes to throw out insults, then can't take the heat.
Now I'll be entirely truthful--this is an election, not a playground. It is possible to have fun, but large things are at stake here;
The future is in your hands, voters, and I believe it is in your interest to know when other candidates make mistakes and say the wrong thing. Unlike Yoshi's CM, I have the strength to expose these flaws, and to take whatever is thrown at me.
Why is this important?
Simple. Being President, and a real president, not some fake doorstop like our last two presidents, means to advance NC and to defend it from damage. This means there will be both good and bad times.
The attitude Yoshi's CM has reveals that he was in it to become another doorstop. Using whimsical little comics for each candidate, the vote would be little more than a random number generator.
The end has come for this; for, with Jay around, the President WAS really sort of unimportant, a fun little figurehead. If he was around as much as he was, I'd have no need to be as serious as I have been;
But my plan has been to elevate the president to being a real one; to therefore, improve NC. This kind of president should tie in funny things with serious ones; and indeed, I tried to balance things.
But my opponents took my jabs a little too seriously, and here we are.
As easy as it would be to jump to the conclusion Romplayer would rather have fun and then let NC rot, I will look more to his motives than his logic.
He helped run the last election, which was a playground meant mostly 'for fun.' In fact, it went off perfectly; Churro, after all, is the funniest candidate I've ever seen!
But there was a very unfunny result afterwards. NC died, and now it has been placed in Sean's stewardship. While I trust him, he can't be expected to run NC and all of SMBHQ at the same time. Churro, the empty figurehead, was incapable of serving the people who elected him, and NC as a result has mostly died.
Furthermore, this election was nearly forgotten, and has been late, in fact. Had I not mentioned it a while ago, it may have never occurred. Since Romplayer had de facto dropped it by his inactivity, I let Sean run the formalities and myself run directly; it was actually a strange incident, for I had planned to be the CM for someone else; but he accepted me anyway.
So I and the others have been running the election, and guess what? There's been some funny times, and some unfunny times. We've traded barbs and stuff. But guess what's happened? Thanks to my work (and theirs), the president, regardless of who is elected, has promised to do real things to help NC. It has spurred more interest than any 'funny only' election, and I believe this will continue to benefit NC.
So, no offense, Romplayer, but your old election style would have been a rather inactive affair, climaxing in NC being elected another figurehead, and then NC fading into the mists (sans user-uploaded content.) Your time has come and gone. But that doesn't mean there can't be some funny elections.
Therefore, if elected president, I will establish an NC Senate, for which all manner of wacky politicking can go on, and it can be entirely for 'fun.' Furthermore, Senate or no Senate, it is my honest wish that everyone who has stuck it out this far help NC, regardless of who is elected. It is just my platform that I run to improve NC, rather than having a cheap laugh at its expense.
And if you dislike that, then I hold nothing against you for voting against me. However, your choices are limited in the non-serious, non-helping NC regard. My transformative ideas have effected practically all candidates.
So, however things go... I feel that while the changes may have stung a little to begin with, in the long run we'll all look back at this from our new, active NC and see that it was a necessary change.

Change we need, yes we can? ;)
I think you are mixing two things: The real and the NC world. What do you expect of this election? The winner gets admin access for the Neglected Characters homepage?
Of course you are right that things at NC have to be changed. But this has nothing to do with this election. Do you think, if Metal Man as a character loses in becoming president, means that you as a (real life) person can't change what NC is and looks like?
Either way this elections ends, everybody of us can bring up advices for a better NC future. You especially, as you are already a kind of staff member. Nobody will say "You've lost in the election, so shut up!"
By the way: Many of those things you are proclaiming were also in the agenda of Yoshi's campaign in 2004. And that time I also were very keen on transposing them. Example? I said it would be a good thing to accept user-generated Shorts. Even Jay liked that idea. And now, four years later, it was also put into practice. And don't forget I also designed and programmed the NC election page.
So it was not only the "fun" thing back in 2004. But it outweighted. That's why everybody loved it. And that's what NC is about. Having fun.
Again: Don't mix the real world with the fictious one.
@Sean: Yoshi's running mate is Luigi, by the way. You can find that info on the first page of this thread ;)

My opponent claims I mix reality and NC; but the truth is, I bring my unique talents to the election, and then he complains about them.
He claims I copied him, when I have in fact, never read his old ads. User-designed shorts were not my idea, anyway, and if I misrepresented myself as being mine, then I apologize.
Let us reject this person who doesn't know what a good election is and continue back with what we were doing.
*clears throat*
Avast! Wario's huge image may make him look important, but beware--it could fall and crush us all!
Beware, voters, for if elected president, he will make even more huge signs... which could fall and crush people!
I, being more responsible, pledge to avoid such tomfoolery. I will only make safe signs, which will never weigh so much as to accidentally crush a Goomba!

Romplayer put it far better than I could.
Frankly, Metal Man, your ads have become more and more annoying as the elections have dragged on. You attacked me for using more pictures of you, your contributors, and your posts in my ads in the primaries. Now, you're doing the exact same thing to your competitors. You waited until after my one-week stunt where I explained the tenets of my campaign to finally explain yours, and yet you whine that everybody copies you. You've made a big deal out of me becoming CM like it's somehow my fault Irby got butthurt about something and got banned. I can't say I expected better from you though, considering how often you talk down to Sean on the SMBHQ forums.
I just want the voters to know that I only use clean politics. Go ahead, hotlink my pictures if you want to attack me or comment on them. They're all on Photobucket or Picoodle anyway. And, I didn't get annoying "friends" from other forums to do my campaigning for me during the primaries. It came right from the ole' noggin.
Since I know this is probably tl;dr, a summary: Yoshi's right, Metal Man's annoying, my politics are awesome.
