What was the game, and how long did you play for?

If ports count, then last year I think, Super Mario Galaxy. On actual hardware it's been a while...it might have been Super Smash Bros Brawl at a tournament years ago.
I only played those each very briefly. There's quite a few I'd like to go back to though, like The Last Story.

I think it was summer 2019, when the kids were home. Riv, Maxy and I played NSMB for a couple hours one evening.

Idk there are so many to get lost in, and forget about time and space. I am just checking them out one-by-one.
One thing to note about the Wii are the original titles that took advantage of the controller.
I think it was "Metroid Other M". I had just figure out to get the emu working, as well the sensor-bar ( uses infared ) via my real wii plugged in ( but not connect only on so I could power the bar ). In fact on Amazon they have bars being sold for way too high a price.
Point being I got it to work.
I understood why Other M is so #$#$@$#$@ing unplayable. The moment you see that [removed] "Adam" and the moment you see the message "Adam will not allow it" bs that is the moment I gave up on playing this game.
Samus never "served" in the military ( which the mentality and direction they went with this ). She grew up an orphan being raised by Chrozo. Also her home was never destroyed by Ridley, nor was SR388. SR388 was the homeworld of Ridley species and they destroyed his race but kept one ( or four ) alive to usher as defacto commander/leader of the space-pirates. Mother Brain and the Metroids being old Chrozo-tech was actually okay for an idea and makes perfect sense why all of this tech that matches her suit is all over the place.
Point I am making is that they
botched the story
botched progression.
Samus = Vega( M. Bison ) from "Street Fighter" > Galactic Federation > Adam
..
Adam was the worst thing introduced in the Metroid series since Fusion even Dread. I mean WTF?? is the point with this character. It is like somebody at Nintendo owes a favor.
Anothony Higgs was possible the only good addition but the bigger problem was that as wtih "Hunters" and "Prime 2" without the introduction of other alien races and species outside of humans within the Galactic Federation makes the game feel empty.
I mean if I see Anothonys face I should see other Federation peeps under the mask. Which brings us back to that little #$@$$ rubbish called Adam. Anothony saying "hey Samus remember me from some missions" and then being phazed out slowly was okay.
......
Finally ( Spoilers ) reading about "Other M" which does not stand for "Metroid" they could have given you a proper final battle, or even
give us a type of villaness for future games, or even set us up for another "Metroid Prime" show-down, or even an appearance of "her" but nope, they just give us this one time shot which was depressing enough to have the Genocidal-E.T.Alien-phobic-Military come in and use regular guns. Which makes this game even more of a loss. Samus should have little or nothing to do with anything that looks like our world at all. Even that bs about her being in sed military was dumb.
Samus = Bobet/Jango-Fett ( before Disney flip-flopped it ) > Galatic civilization > Anything related to our world military
..............
Beyond that I have been reading up on the Wii and how Nintendo just let the Gamespy Network die. I mean the Wii was beautiful and not appreciated. Not even by me. The problem was communications with the consumer and Nintendo. Even the Switch sucks compared to the Wii. The Switch is just a Wii with a touch-screen and is portable. Again what about the controllers and usage of those controllers.
Point being so much on the Wii to explore. So many titles both good and bad to checkout.
Take "Sonic Colors" ( which got some bad remakes ). I mean never playing it just seems like a swing and miss from SEGA.
Even the anniversary Sonic game on the PC was way better in my opinion because while the worlds was from the earlier games the design and functionality of those worlds was original but SEGA marketed it as being the same ole thing but man that was fun. I am talking about all the Mini-games and such. Only problem was the lack of certain enemies and characters not being used along with that
idea about "Two Sonics" is what messed it up.
..................
Wii has tons of titles on it to play. It is the NES reborn. Then came the non-Reggie years..........but at least Nintendo got Bayonetta series before everybody else. It is like the middle-finger that was RE4

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, it might be the best game on the system.

Well, Wii can play GameCube games, too, so you got the best of two worlds. Most people swear by 'SSBMelee', but I say 'Brawl's the champ! Come at me, Melee baybays, I'll waylay your tay-stays!
GameCube has the better Zelda. 'Wind Waker' is great. I couldn't make much progress in 'Skyward Sword', even though I really loved the aesthetics, because I was pushin carts all the time. 40+ hours a week, man. I'd come home most nights with my shoulders burning sore, and I'd look at 'Skyward Sword' for like a minute and then go, "if I have to fight a bunch of those butthole Moblins that block everything perfectly, my right arm is going to snap off at the hinge sooner rather than later...'DRAGON AGE' IT IS!'"
Presumably your children know of the video game man known as Mareo. They might like the Wii Mareo games.
