In the story behind the original series, Mega Man is a robot originally named Rock, created as a lab assistant by the scientist Dr. Light with Dr. Wily as his partner. Following treachery by Dr. Wily in which he reprogrammed most of Dr. Light's robots, Rock volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot to defend the world from Wily's violent robotic threats, thus becoming Mega Man.

I played all of those except Battle & Chase, Street Fighter X Mega Man, and the DOS games & Japanese exclusives.

Well, I did try Rockman & Forte Mirai kara no Chōsensha, but it was very difficult and pretty poorly designed, unfortunately. I didn't get far.

My favorite is Mega Man & Bass (SNES version). Playing as Bass is a lot of fun, everything about it is great. It's very difficult but that's one of the only flaws. Mega Man 7 & 10 are really good too.

Hardest bosses...so many can takes that crown. Yellow Devil from Mega Man 1 stands out to me, though.

Least favorite power was the crappy ball from Mega Man 8. It's kinda cool at first but it sucks.

I've dabbled in Mega Man but never really played it much. It's one of those franchises I probably should have played but never bothered. I do have the Mega Man Legacy Collection on Steam, which is the first 6 games. Seems to be a quick cash grab from Capcom, but I only paid $1. Not sure how good they will be as someone without nostalgia glasses.

I think you'll still enjoy them without a nostalgia factor. As with most NES games, they'll be hard to make you replay them a lot, but that collection has save states at least. The first one in particular is probably the hardest and least fun.

Imo 4-6 are the better half of the collection, with MM6 being the best. I seem to be in the minority on that opinion though.

^I just thought MM6 was too easy. Never even bothered to switch from my standard buster shot unless I absolutely had to.

I beat 1-9, nearly beat 10, and beat MMX 1-3. I think I prefer the feel of the MMX games with the wall jumping, charge shots, and sliding physics really nailed down. I was always pretty stingy with power ups, but I did really like nailing a Hadouken in MMX. Air Man's weapon was cool too. Unless I really liked a power up, I probably didn't familiarize myself with it enough to make it a least favorite.

Sigma's final form in MMX was really hard for me. Small hitbox, hits like a truck, and it follows right after two other boss fights

^ That's what I like about 4-6. With sliding, charging, energy tanks, and helpers like Beat, those games were more manageable for me. Mega Man plays so stiffly that I really need those things. The Rush Adaptor was awesome too thanks to its hover ability.

I agree with you about the MMX games feeling better. The first MMX is virtually perfect. That's actually why Mega Man & Bass & Mega Man 10 are among my favorite, Bass plays like he's from a MMX game but even better thanks to the double jump and multi-directional aiming.

Mega Man 2 exclusively. fond memories but cannot think of one boss that was the hardest - some of the stages especially Metal Man was tricky though..
