Anima, Song of the Abyss

#1

Post by Halxarth » Mon Sep 11, 2023 2:03 pm

So, Anima Studios is launching their third videogame, Song of the Abyss, on Kickstarter, several video game consoles, and Steam.

I participated in the Kickstarter for their previous one, Gate of Memories, and they seem to have improved the hack and slash + rpg style a lot since then. It has anime aesthetics and if someone is curious, in their kickstarter they also have social media goals and a fan art contest for more rewards.

I got myself the Deluxe edition. In the Gate of Memories kickstarter they took some time to deliver the physical rewards, but the game arrived on time, so, thats nice.

Hi again!

Last post on the topic, I only share cuz there are 48 h left for the campaign to end and since I last did they have unlocked several stretch and social media goals, so the game and rewards are more complete now^^

That actually seems pretty cool. If I didn't know any better I'd think it was an authentic Japanese game, but it seems to be developed by a western studio. It reminds me of something like Zelda or Genshin Impact.

...I just looked over my XOne catalog, and evidently I bought 'Gate of Memories' somewhere along the line. Haven't played it, but hey.

I'm a little leery of crowdfunding, but I sure can't deny it yields good games often enough (I'll take the odd disappointment like 'Yooka-Laylee' if it's accompanied by radness like 'Indivisible', 'Shovel Knight' and 'Slaps & Beans').

I thought Yooka-Yaylee was okay too, my only problem with it was how they booted JonTron. Not a dealbreaker but he's hilarious, anything with him will always be funnier.

There's nothing wrong with 'Yooka-Laylee'------------it's just competent, is all. They kind of shot themselves in the foot, promising the 'spiritual successor' to BK. Just like the 'Mighty No 9' gang did by referring as much as they did to their pedigree of working on Mega Man games. I mean, you don't want to gain support by reminding people of something truly great you once did, and then deliver something merely adequate.
