^Absolutely NOT! That's an extremely ridiculous theory. Janus = Guile at heart, although Square was cheap ad removed the direct link.

I love this line from a CC flashback guide:
- JANUS ---------------------------------------------------------------------
[FLASHBACK POINT: CHRONO TRIGGER]

The "Janus" to whom Lucca refers in her letter to Kidd was Magus' real name. Why would Magus, the heroic villain of Chrono Trigger, be interested in Kid's welfare? Some people think it's because Serge is actually Magus, despite all evidence to the contrary. Some people also think the earth is flat. You never know.

Oh, okay.

Janus was a great character. In a word: SPOOKY. A brat, yes, but if he wasn't he wouldn't be Janus, or Magus for that matter.

Why does Janus have to be Alfador, or Guile, or Serge? Why can't he just be Magus?
