It just goes to show that painting everything with a broad stroke is not how to do things.

Take each situation as it comes and not like a set of byline rules.

It's only complicated because people complicate it, like whoever made the comic. It went into "I just want to fight" territory when it argued fictional character's consent. Gimme a break.

^Does it really matter if you're treating a fictional character as a sex object when they aren't capable of feelings?

Logically, no, but I guarantee we'll get an emotionally reasoned "yes" soon.

I think that was less about the character, who obviously doesn't exist, and more addressed towards the sort of people that insist everything with skimpy dress is sexually empowering. There's an argument for a lot of it, but some games and especially lazy anime have a tendency of forcing that on to characters who clearly would never dress/act that way in real life.

I'm not seeing as much of it anymore, in fairness. That may be down to what I'm playing or (rarely) watching, though.

Damn, look at him grip the actual blade with his bare hands, no wonder I used to like He-Man.[DOUBLEPOST=1429226319,1429225973][/DOUBLEPOST][QUOTE="I am nobody, post: 1529783, member: 34539"]I think that was less about the character, who obviously doesn't exist, and more addressed towards the sort of people that insist everything with skimpy dress is sexually empowering. Your point being what, exactly? I stated facts about an argument other people are having. You highlighted some words indicating that it's all fictional, which I'm pretty sure everyone on both sides of that argument already knows.

Or probably knows, anyway. You can never be sure.

It doesn't matter, you're waifu a **** anyway.

I guess with fictional characters it's creator's intention+intended audience or something.

My point is real life has nothing to do with video games, anime, or fiction in general.
You can't say how Goku would behave or dress in real life, it doesn't work that way.

^Yes and no. You can't predict anything absolutely, but it's not much of a stretch to say that an extremely shy character probably isn't going to be doing the whole skimpy outfit thing. It'd be like having a nerdy male scientist character who can't talk to girls never wear anything except leather overalls and a cowboy hat - it's the creator's call, but that's more than a little ridiculous.

Fan service exists and isn't about to go anywhere. It's not hurting anyone as long as people understand that actual humans don't act that way. It's a bit silly when people try and pretend fan service is anything more than that. I don't see what there is to be offended or mad about here.

^ Well, Vegeta wore pink and got a hard time for it. Didn't see that coming. Characters just do things.
